    Appalachian Mountain Brewing Porter

A solid, straight-down-the-middle dark beer. Pours a deep mahogany that let’s just a smidge of light through. Medium-sized tan head that lingers for a bit. Not much on the nose, but the flavor is exactly what you would expect from a porter. I’m thinking ABV in the mid-5’s and IBU’s near 30. Another quality product from AMB.
"Amazing what a minute can do."

I went shopping today and selected my Quick Lane Bowl brew: a six pack of Founders Porter.

    2. I have a solution (or two) in my "cellar" for your "problem."

While I may have a problem (I’m quite certain I have many ) calling me out like that on DBR is way uncool.

Whew! I'm really glad you clarified that because when I read your first reply I thought, "Oh, my what have I done wrong?" It was certainly not in any way whatsoever to indicate a true problem, hence the "xyz" in quotes. My "peace" offering is still in effect regarding the Sour Monkeys.

To aid in Tripping William's weekend purchases:

The Abyss (12/9/16 bottling) Scotch Barrel Variant-Deschutes Brewing Company

This is a big beer. A very big beer.

Devildeac II (aka our son) helped me knock out a bomber of this last PM as a night cap. Took us about 45 minutes.

Pour was almost inky black with a thin, mocha head. Nose was thick with dark chocolate, wood, booze and hints of licorice. Mouthfeel was thick. Not quite Ten Fidy thick, but close. Semi-sweet chocolate up first, then slightly burnt dark caramel, followed by dried cherries and other dark fruits, a bit of coffee and vanilla with mild, lingering, but not unpleasant tastes of licorice and closing with the expected warming, boozy finish. I'll guess IBUs of 60 as it's an imperial stout and the ABV is 12.3% and that stat was not hiding from anyone. We had some gifted, home-baked chocolate chip cookies and Cadbury chocolate eggs with the elixir but this concoction would survive well on its own. I think no licorice would make this a "better" product but no one contacted me about that factor either .

That is a classic porter, Bob. An excellent choice. Should be on the top 5 (top 3?) on anyone's list.

I'm looking forward to it as I really enjoyed the Founders Breakfast Stout that either you or August West gave me at tailgate...I don't remember which of you it was.

DBR limits images so I was only allowed the three rolleyes. Just goofing around.

You must have sipped too many millers that day as it was most likely dpslaw .

Not sure what to call this beyond a devildeac delivery special.

Galaxy Double Dry Hopped India Pale Ale
Black and green can with “The Vapors” on the side label.
    New Anthem Beer Project Wilmington

    Water, 2 row, oats, lactose
    Mosaic, Galaxy, Simcoe

    Super hazy pour.

Smells like grapefruit and a whiff of pine.

Grapefruit bitter through and through with a citrus sweet finish.

Pretty sure I’ve never had a New Anthem beer, and this makes me want to try more.

A 12/8 canning date makes this beer super fresh.

What an unexpected early Christmas gift.

    Cheers devildeac! 🎄🍻

    You are most welcome.

Devildeac II and I are about to have this and Lexington Queen, the other New Anthem Beer Project cans gifted from a patient this week, with a large bowl of Mrs. dd's deeeeelicious homemade vegetable beer, err, beef soup in about 30 minutes.

    I did. All carbs.

    Then I unquit them.

Gonna quit them again after the bowl game, until Duke’s tourney run ends in championship or otherwise.

I’ll be interested if you can perceive big differences as apparently The Vapors wrecked my palate enough that Lexington Queen tastes very similar.
    That’s not a complaint :-)

    The Vapors-New Anthem Beer Project

    Drink regional!

I'm not gonna duplicate/add/subtract from this 100% on target review except to exclaim:

    Hazy Juice!!!!

Well, except maybe estimate the IBUs around 50 and post the ABV from their draft list at 6.6% and on the pint can at 6.3%.

Really, really good IPA and amazingly fresh. Devildeac II agrees.

Well, then a warm (or should that be chilled ) welcome back to Ymm, Beer. We've missed your tastings.
