    Catching up:

    Gnight Ryder-Against the Grain Brewery

Credit-son in law poured about 6 ounces for each of us Saturday night and kept the last 10 for himself for Sunday night; thanks!
Style-red wine barrel aged black ale
    Format-bomber
    Stemware-tumblers
Appearance-almost black with ruby edges; moderate, foamy tan head
    Nose-red wine, charred grains
    Mouthfeel-winey with a bite
Tastes-vinous, coffee/chocolate dipped candied grapefruit and orange slice, char
    IBU-I'll guess about 50
    ABV-9%
Overall impression-interesting combination, a black ale and red wine barrel again
Ymm, Beer rating-low cat 3; well executed but would call a favorite; would pair well with a beef roast

Maybe I can try one if I make it to a tailgate this fall.

At the moment, I believe it is only available at the brewery - it was a 32oz. Crowler and labeled as a Test.

You could have one fruit juice cocktail with and one without a splash (or two) of vodka.

    You talked me into it. No vodka this time. Beautiful bright mahogany’ish color. Nice tartness. Mostly cherry; the raspberry was way more subtle. These two play well together in a way that Henry Coleman and Theo John apparently don’t. {Hat-tip to an unnamed source, married to amusedcupcake, for that last line.}
"Amazing what a minute can do."

It’s a wine — but appropriate for the thread and for the day:

    The Chronic’s Sofa King Bueno

Good Paso juice. Strong red, mellows with some aeration.

Let it breathe a bit. It’s the Chronic.

Accfan is a great guy and *might* bring the original Honey Ginger and the BBA version if Ardent brews it this year.

Yea, that really sounds like a brewery only product. You were quite fortunate.

I *thought* you might like that combination. In the next few days, to use up some inventory, I'll probably have a couple different beer cocktails using the Apple Ale, Cran-Bic, Raspberry Tart and Belgian Red in various combinations.

Ha! There was a restaurant called Chronic Tacos about 2 mile from our house that the pandemic sadly shut down.

    Style-flavored imperial stout
Format-pint can, shared with younger son in law
    Stemware-snifters
Appearance-dark brown with a moderate tan head
    Nose-coffee and maple
    Mouthfeel-seductive
Tastes-mugs of coffee, maple syrup, toasted coconut, dark chocolate, burnt caramel
    Adjuncts-coffee, coconut and maple syrup
Overall impression-shoulda asked for a case of this one; decadent
Ymm, Beer rating-lotta beers in this arena but this is easily a mid cat 3

I benefit by driving past the brewery once a week - I do not stop once a week but I do wave.
