Straight Talk Vol. IV is a true example of barrel aging excellence. This is our last batch of Bourbon Cru (and the LONGEST we've ever aged this beer!) brewed at our original Ownby location in 2017. Having spent 4 years in Buffalo Trace barrels, this Bourbon Barrel Aged Belgian Quadrupel has layered, complex flavors that transform further as you sip. Pouring rich Mahogany in color, the aromatic qualities of this beer start with candied apple and toffee and evolve into rich vanilla and sherry notes. Sweet cherry, oak and dark fruit flavors coat your palate and remain for what seems like an eternity. With a smooth and warming finish, Straight Talk IV is a wonderfully unique and saporous experience.

Really tasty - got the oak and dark fruit, bourbon throughout.

Wow, Straight Talk 3 and 4. Both sound fabulous.

Stout - Imperial / Double Milk

13.5% ABV No IBU

This journey begins with select barrels aged with apple brandy at Laird's apple brandy distillery. After emptying the barrels of apple brandy, we introduce the bold flavors of our imperial milk stout that lies in wait for 13 months. After Trickery is born, we condition on bourbon Madagascar vanilla beans and Vietnamese cinnamon. Family Tree exclusive.

Picked up two more in their warehouse sale...to share (at least one of them )

Uh-oh, more Trickery.

I'm in for a share of that one. No milk needed for that Cinnamon Toast.

Russian Imperial Stout aged in Basil Hayden Bourbon Barrels matured on vanilla beans, toasted coconut, and toasted marshmallows. This is the non-GBS version of smores by the campfire. I can see Peter Venkman having one of these...

Stout - Imperial / Double

12.5% ABV No IBU

Blended to achieve a perfect balance, we hand selected an eleven month aged Bourbon Cru barrel and a thirteen month aged Trickery barrel. In this blend of colossal beers, we conditioned on fig and vanilla for a silky smooth and dark fruit forward experience.

This was not a family tree exclusive - but it was a pricey 750ml bottle at $27. Delicious vanilla and dark fruit, hint of bourbon.

Great names. Not many beers are fig-conditioned but the ones I've had have been delicious. This sounds no different.

Hoist the mast and set sail with Coconut Jack. We commandeered a Caribbean rum barrel with 7 month aged imperial milk stout to be blended with a barrel of Trickery and mellowed on toasted coconut. It's a pirates island dream, savvy!

This came out same time as It Figures, not a family tree exclusive but also pricey at $25 750ml. Really get the rum and coconut.

At those prices, you're gonna need a 2nd job.

From an older GBS set - Hardywood

750 mL Triple Barrel GBS, 13.5% ABV, Gingerbread Stout Aged 11 Months in Brandy Barrels, then Aged 4 Months, half in A. Smith Bowman Bourbon Barrels and half in Caribbean Rum Barrels. Really excellent. Bourbon in the background, brandy on the finish, hint of rum with the ginger. Loved this 2019 offering.

750 mL Kentucky Christmas Pancakes, 11.5% ABV, Gingerbread Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels with Local Maple Syrup. 2019 or 2018? Add a bourbon note to the Christmas Pancakes, a boozy breakfast now.

Bourbon barrel quadrupel (15 months age) + bourbon barrel barleywine (14 months age) + chardonnay barrel Belgian strong golden ale (4 months age). Get the bourbon quad up front, buttery note at the finish from the chardonnay ale. Have a couple cans left, delicious.

Barrel aged Cassowary blend (12 week aged bourbon barrel and 12 week aged brandy barrel) with cacao nibs and toasted coconut. Sweet with the brandy and cacoa nibs, coconut hidden. Still have one left.

Barleywine - Other

11.4% ABV No IBU

Barleywine aged in Woodford Reserve double oaked bourbon barrels + imperial milk stout aged in Copper Fox pot distilled single malt whisky barrels. Only whiskey barrel I've seen from them...bourbon tempers the barleywine, some sweet from the milkstout, interesting finish from the whiskey.

Imperial Milk Stout aged in grape brandy barrels + Belgian Quadruple aged in Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrels. Sweeter than others with the grape, but nice bourbon finish. 4-pack cans.

Hardywood did offer Brian's Blend #10 and #11 as a mixed 4-pack two and two. Nice offering.

Our 8th Anniversary Blend is an EIGHT BARREL MASH-UP! A combined total of 58 months of bodacious barrel aging results in a totally tubular combination of sweet cherry, date and candied apple notes surrounded in a subtle peat and oak aura. Caramel, leather and chocolate leave a lingering silky smooth finish.
