Agreed. Anyone in NC looking to get away for a weekend - Rent a condo at Wintergreen, hike the ridge trail all morning. Spend the afternoon at Devil's Backbone or Wild Wolf or Blue Mountain. (Or all three!) Breakfast the next morning at Wintergreen at the Copper Mill, I think it was called. (It's been a while, might want to check and make sure that's still open)

Went there many times for lunch during ski trips and occasionally during golf seasons, too. Very good food and great views.

Four by Four Brewing Session IPA

From nearby Springfield, MO. Home of the Isotopes. Maybe.

A double dry hopped session IPA. Only 4.6% ABV. Bright yellow color, with just a little haze. Good sized white head. Good beer, but nothing memorable. More bitter than I would have guessed, but still easy drinking. Tasty, but not top-notch. I’ll keep searching.

Blue Mountain A Hopwork Orange

An orange infused IPA sounds great after running around in the heat.

A theory that does not turn out to be as exciting in practice.

A nicely orange citrus nose.
An odd hop combination that is a bit off putting.

Should go well with the burgers in the grill.

A nice differentiation attempt in a crowded market.
Different hop profile and maybe this is a winner.

Blue Mountain Brewing - A Hopwork Orange

ABV - 7%
IBUs - ~65

An orange infused IPA made with Simcoe, Cascade and Centennial hops.

Poured a clear amber with a hint of orange. Nice 1/4 to 3/8" head.
Hops and just a hint of the orange to the aroma.

This balanced out very well. It's nothing like taking an IPA and squeezing in a slice of orange, which I guess is what I expected. This is more like "just enough orange peel zest to give you the hint of orange to complement the hops". As it warmed, the orange came out a bit more, but still pleasant.

Did I mention a hint of orange?

Honestly, it was a little better than I was expecting. I'd give it a pretty high 2, possibly even a low 3.

Bodes well for the Hop Duster DIPA from Blue Mountain that is chillin in the fridge...
