Style-not just any stock ale but a stock ale that's a blend of Guinness' imperial stout AND barleywine ale (who knew they brewed either, let alone both?), both aged in Bulleit bourbon barrels
Format-11.2 ounces on these shores (330 ml from abroad); $20/4 pack
    Stemware-snifter
Appearance-clean/clear dark brown with hints of ruby; small tan head
Mouthfeel-a bit thin, but not surprising given it's blending; smooth
Tastes-quite complex; dark roast grains, leather, tobacco, chocolate, burnt toffee, vanilla, wood, raisins, dates, figs and dark cherries
    IBU-guessing about 60
ABV-10%; quite a smooth sipper over probably 45 minutes
Overall impression-delighted to have 3 more of these to age over the next 6-12 month or maybe trade one or two
Ymm, Beer rating-low/mid cat 3; worth finding; different than the "original" Guinness stout (imported from Dublin and aged in Bulleit barrels in Baltimore) without barleywine from maybe 2018"

Accfan may have tried something like this imperial stout/barleywine hybrid from Hardywood last year.

Ahh, forgot the 800 PM tipoff. Time for another beer but not enough to get sloppy.

Klean Belgiez is a traditional Belgian Quad with Virginia Wildflower honey designed and brewed by Josh, our Pilot Brewer/Cellar Manager. Delicious malty richness, some spice, lots of dark fruit, and a caramel-honey finish.

Veil does more than Fruit Smoothies and IPAs!

    Ymm, Beer indeed.

    First hop:

    https://beermaverick.com/hop/rakau/

"Rakau is a dual-purpose hop that can be used in all hop additions throughout the brewing process.

Specific aroma descriptors for the Rakau hop include stone fruit and fig characteristics; fresh orchard fruits, specifically apricot with some resinous pine needle characteristics are noted. Sometimes it is misspelled as Raku."

I had no idea Veil brewed this style.

    Ymm, Beer; almost always educational.

Nobody tell Mrs. Nrrrrvous that I snuck one of these while she is at her mom's. Maybe she won't notice...

More than a single word post.

    http://www.hopslist.com/hops/aroma-hops/wai-iti/

"A truly modern triploid hop, Wai-iti brings forth a fresh splash of lime and stone fruit. It was released to brewers in 2011 alongside Kohatu by New Zealand Plant & Food Research and features higher beta acids than alpha acids, low cohumulone and robust oil content."

Plus, if it's a quad, the aroma will probably linger around the house for days.

    (I'd be sure I recycled that can in a neighbor's bin .)

It's apparently pretty unusual for them. But it's good. Easy drinker. Only 8.5%. Nice and malty and spicy and sweet. I think Mrs. Nrrrrvous will like it! (Assuming there are some left when she gets back!)

Nothing needless here; more education about this unusual hop.

"Its heritage consists of notable varieties Hallertauer Mittelfrüh as a 1/3 parent and Liberty as its grandparent. Despite its low alpha content, low cohumulone and high farnesene would suggest a soft bitterness and potential suitability for single-hopped beers."
