Looking like a Quadrophenia, err, Quadruple kind of night.

Another imperial Satan’s Pony. Still another 4-pack to go. Why get one when you can have two at twice the price...
Most of a bottle of Angel's Envy finished in rum barrels just arrived. It's going to be a very Happy New Year...
Oh wait, wrong thread.

Christmas Island 2020 - Hardywood - Imperial Milk Stout - 11.5 %
GBS with toasted coconut on the finish aged 15 months in Caribbean rum barrels. Can't argue with any of that. Rum and chocolate on the nose.
Fun rum on the palate, chocolate, and then the coconut shines. Like a rummy mounds bar. Rum and coconut work well, obviously.
Category 3
thanks accfan!
Necstacy - Commonwealth - Double NE-IPA - 8.4 % - Nectaron, Julius, and Citra
Mid Cat 3 - better than most Burial and New Anthem. Maybe it's just my taste, but commonwealth is killing it.
So juicy, hazy, tastes like tangerine with a nice pleasant shift to bitter (in a very good way if you like IPA's).
Buy a 4-pack of this one if you see it fresh.

First Tracks - Commonwealth - 8.2 % - DIPA with Motueka, Grungeist, and El Dorado.
I didn't think I'd like this as much as the last one. I was basically wrong. This one is also pretty amazing. Low Cat 3 in a crowded field. Extremely balanced and delicious.
(I have had Commonwealth I didn't like - "Family Drama" 9.2% comes to mind as tasting too boozy. But the 2 recent ones hid the alcohol well and are as good as they get.)
Tonight's starters:
Blueberry Coffee Three Philosophers-Ommegang
Twelfth Night-Lickinghole
Dragons with Matches-Incendiary
St. Bernardus Christmas Ale-some outstanding Belgian brewery
I'm all outta quads/starters and need a fifth...

From recently:
Port Barrel Magellan-Wolf's Ridge Brewing
Credit-son from a limited release at the brewery in February this year; thanks
Style-port barrel aged, flavored imperial stout
Format-8 ounce bottle, shared 2 ways
Stemware-small snifters
Appearance-dark ruby/brown; no head
Nose-vinous and chocolatey
Mouthfeel-lubricious
Tastes-red wine, berries, semisweet chocolate, hint of maple sweetness
Casks-ancient tawny port comprised ot 3 different types of wood: South American oak, European oak and chestnut
Adjuncts-Vermont maple syrup (none of that Canadian stuff of recent sippings)
IBU-probably 50
ABV-13% and waaaaay too easy to sip
Overall impression-delectable; a wonderful nightcap
Ymm, Beer rating-middle cat 3; getting really close quarters in the barrel aged imperial stout auditorium

Incendiary Brewing - Caramel Salted Porter
Reading the fine print (almost as bad as Veil) abv 10% canned 11/9/20 so fresh. Pours black, thin foam head. Get caramel, toffee on the nose. A lot of goodness in this can. Not too roasty, smooth, like I said caramel up front, hint of salt on the finish. Well balanced. I liked this even better than the dragon with matches - not as complex, but really like the taste. No hint of the 10%.
Thank you RJ! Two for two on the Incendiary brews, have a BBA can queued up next. Glad to have 2nd can of this porter!
Hmm, no late year beer reports from fuse...
