My limited view is either be so thick or so hazy that you can’t tell the particulate from the beer, or be clear.

In between is not pleasing to the eye.

    Fishtowne Brew House

This appears to be Beaufort’s anchor brewery. They have a facility right in downtown, but it is closed on Mondays. They do sell cans of their Wade Shore Wheat, so I bought one. A decent wheat; nothing special. I may try to visit the brewery tomorrow.

The chunk mostly settled to the bottom of our glasses as we sipped it and the beer was mildly cloudy. It was indeed as chunky as your eyes see it. Above average taste.

    And finally, the long-awaited:

    For Goodness Shakes-Shortfuse Brewing Company

Local for the Midwest beer mule.

    Credit-Christmas present/trader from younger son-in-law; thanks!!
Style-milkshake IPA (settle down, killerleft, you'll not find this anywhere in NC)
    Format-pint can
    Stemware-small chalices
Appearance-pink, orange, cloudy and very, very chunky
    Nose-peach citrus
Mouthfeel-a bit tart, a bit sweeet; not chewy
Tastes-peach jam, grapefruit and hint of coconut
Adjuncts-peach puree, toasted coconut flakes and lactose
    IBU-30
    ABV-7.5%
Overall impression-not a pretty beer and not quite as flavorful as expected but a good nice dessert preview
Ymm, Beer rating-mid/upper cat 2; happy to have tried it and happy to share can#2 or trade

    Here's the list:

    "Untappd’s Top 10 Beers of 2020
    1.Guinness Draught — Guinness
    2.Punk IPA — BrewDog
    3.Corona Extra — Grupo Modelo
    4.IPA – Lagunitas Brewing Company
    5.Heineken — Heineken
    6.Elvis Juice — BrewDog
    7.Tripel Karmeliet — Brouwerij Bosteels
8.Miller Lite — Miller Brewing Co.
    9.Stella Artois — Stella Artois
10.Hazy Little Thing — Sierra Nevada Brewing Co."

I quite reading the article after this, the first sentence, and perusing the list:

"At the very least, 2020 warranted one final list of 10 great beers."

There's one great beer on that list.

We need a beer mule to procure some brews from Other Half and Tree House (and Trillium, too, while they're "in the area").

    Shameless. I know.

    More Fishtowne

Stopped by their brewery. Downtown Beaufort is sooooo quaint. Got a 4-beer flight. In order:

    (1) Black Cat milk stout. Alllllllll coffee. And then some more coffee. So easy-drinking. 5.2% ABV of coffee goodness. I came away with a crowler of this.

    (2) Ship Faced golden ale. A tasty Belgian style. Bit of pink bubble gum. I may go back and get a crowler of this one I have finished off the Black Cat.

    (3) Sauced. A cranberry saison. The cranberry is super-subtle. Just a bit of tart. Only a bit. If this is the “C” player, that tells you something.

    (4) Fig Lebowski. A Belgian dubbel with fig and raisin. If this is the “D” beer .... It’s not as good a Mother Earth’s similar style offering, but still good.

I coulda/shoulda/woulda done a second flight. Hit this place up if you’re ever down this way.

“This is a single barrel & single beer experience. Our third installment to this series is a Grape Brandy Barrel Aged Wheatwine. This beer offers a full mouthfeel with toffee and black cherry aromas preceding a decadent sweet sherry-like flavor, while finishing with warm caramel.”

Definitely get the black cherry and sherry-like flavor. It's very interesting. Smooth, a little boozy, kind of a barrel wine taste and fruity. This was like a dessert beer, but not in the smoothie Veil sense. I liked it, have not had a barrel aged wheat wine that I can think of. Interesting style. I think RJ got one in the last traders, curious what he and beer goddess think of the style.

Great names, especially #2. Mother Earth Fig and Raisin was very tasty, guessing it was about 2016 when I had it last.

The Bourbon County Stout Wheatwine 2019 variant was Larceny whiskey barrel aged. It's delicious and I still have 2 bottles.

Sounds like some good chit (https://beermaverick.com/fermentable/chit-malt/)
