    In the meantime:

    Hazy&Juicy&Hoppy&Fresh-HiWire Brewing

If they have a "branch" location in the Bull City, they're local enough for me.

Credit-my choice, my dime; the other 3 were traded to accfanfrom1970 and Nrrrrvous about 6 weeks ago
Style-DDH NEIPA (darn close to a NEDIPA)
    Temporary residence-1/8 gallon aluminum cylinder
    Packaged-08/18/20
    Stemware-(yawn) pint glass
Appearance-mildly hazy pineapple yellow; moderate foamy, persistent head
    Mouthfeel-juicy
    Nose-stone fruit and grapefruit
Tastes-peach, melon, grapefruit and a twist of rind
    Hops-Lotus and Amarillo
    Adjunct-lactose
    IBU-40ish
    ABV-7.5%
Overall impression-still a good citrus pop with no staleness but likely shoulda drank this 4 to 6 weeks ago
Ymm, Beer rating-top shelf cat 2; mighta been low cat 3 had I been smart enough to drink sooner

    From Saturday night:

    'Rrari Crochet 2019-Three Floyds Brewing

Local only if picked up in Munster.

Credit-not sure if this was a davec pick up or our younger son-in-law; either way, many thanks to both as they both played huge roles in getting our Dark Lords
Style-flavored and barrel aged Dark Lord variant
Format-750 ml waxed and capped bottle; shared with our son
    Stemware-snifters
Appearance-thick and dark with ruby highlights
    Nose-booze, chocolate and berries
    Mouthfeel-amazingly smooth and almost chewy
Tastes-first sip was a "wow;" dark chocolate, berries, bourbon, port wine, vanilla, wood, burnt caramel, toasted coconut
Adjuncts-vanilla, freeze dried str@wb3 rrie$, --cocoa, to@sted ____coconut (exactly how it appears on label)
Barrels-port whisky (see next post as I had to research this)
    IBU-who cares?
ABV-15% (frighteningly sippable); I'd have guessed about 12% but I know better
Overall impression-the Marshmallow Handjee variant gets better "rep" but this was amazing
Ymm, Beer rating-high level cat 3; expensive at $40/750 ml but worth the splurge to share a white whale with family

My husband thinks Wise Man hit another home run with this. I think he had this one at the brewery last weekend. I agree with him that it is quite tasty!
Procured one of these from Stella. Now anxiously looking forward to drinking it!

Cold Mountain acquired along with a 6er of HiWire Hop Circus. Not going to make it to Asheville, so no stops at any breweries this time.

Success!! HiWire brews good to very good beers. Breweries are still good to avoid but the couple I've been to in the last 6 months have been well socially distanced and/or outdoor sipping and dining. Safe travels!!

(any update on a host for December VP?)

Tasting notes on Cold Mountain? I happened upon a (overpriced) six pack last week and availed myself of it.

I find it less and less impressive with each passing year. It's 80% marketing, 15% manufactured shortage, 5% good beer.

Made the decision to enjoy the 2012 Bourbon Barrell Aged Dark Lord on Thanksgiving Day this year. Was hoping to break it out to celebrate an IU victory over Ohio State over the weekend, but Thanksgiving should do fine

Anyone venturing out on Friday (or sending a proxy) for the BCBS variants?

Will let you know. Haven’t had it in the past and likely won’t open this up until next week.

My large-format-stout-of-the-holiday this time around is Trophy’s BBA Heavyweight Champ (all 750ml and 14% ABV of it).

Our son and our younger son-in-law did last year and will likely repeat their adventure again this year. I'll let them do my beer mule-ing (again ).

    That's a great beer. Guess it's been a couple years since I had/shared one.

Ahh, that explains it-sort of. I think I've seen that at Bottle Rev and Total William in the last couple months but wasn't sure if it was old stuff or a new issue.

I grabbed this from the brewery in Raleigh on a visit there. Can’t remember exactly when, though.

In Asheville until Sunday and just scored three crowlers of porter. Saving one for Thanksgiving. It’s all good.
