First up from the Stella haul:

New Anthem 11th & Folsom IPA

Damn, these beers are good. Citra, Mosaic, & Strata hops. Super-opaque yellow-orange pour. Generous head. Lots of citrus fruit. Not mega-dank. Excellently balanced. Regret only grabbing one (but I had to do a lot of singles because of all the good stuff with which Stella was tempting me).

    From last PM:

    Mushhushshu 2020 (aged 16 months)-Rheingeist Brewery

Couple hours away? Yea, still local.

    Credit-son of dd; thanks!!
Style-BBA blended dark ales with flavorings
Format-500 ml bottle, shared two ways
    Serving vessels-snifters
Appearance-deep, dark brown; small mocha head
    Nose-bourbon soaked dark fruits
Mouthfeel-a bit thin (a minor nit)
Tastes-dark chocolate, bourbon, raisins, figs, dates, vanilla, splash of coffee, oak
    Adjuncts-coffee, chocolate and vanilla
    IBU-probably 30
Overall impression-Rheingeist brews some outstanding dark ales/stouts and their barrel aged selections are excellent
Ymm, Beer rating-low/mid cat 3; might look for this later today

Out on the Edge - Durty Bull Brewing -

Collaboration with Wise Man Brewing. This mixed fermentation sour ale was aged for 27 months in an oak foeder then refermented in stainless with pomegranate puree and a touch of vanilla. The end result is a complex sour ale that rewards repeated sips.

I will say, this is pretty darned good. I would easily rate it a high 2, low 3, the more I drink the higher it gets. (amazing how that works) All kidding aside, I would certainly have another, which is good cuz I got three more downstairs!

Another one of those, "If you like sours, you should give this one a go."
Had the second one of these last night. Still good! Washed down some mediocre pizza (no, not Sergios) quite well. Still upper Cat 2!

Yeah, I was there for this. 14 minutes of heaven.

Meanwhile, Stella gifted me a 2020 Hardywood Gingerbread Stout can and a bomber of 2020 BBA GBS. Among other things, including some WMB (not to be confused with DMB).

And, for Ss&Gs (or something like that), it was about 45 degrees and damp.

Dark Lord - Trump and Pump.
Dark Lord aged in Sauternes barrels. What are Sauternes barrels? A French dessert wine commonly served with foie gras. Who knew?

2016, so well aged. 15% so boozy. Bottle numbered #933/1266 so rare.

A pitch-black color stout with a nice large dark brown foamy head. Aroma of Sauterne with its typical sweet grapes is up front, some light molasses and chocolate notes. Sweet. Boozy. Smooth.

Honored to get this variant. Not many times you can tell folks you had a 2016 stout. This made the venture/trade/purchase worth it. A white whale of a beer. Worth the price just to say you’ve enjoyed one.

What an amazing coincidence finding this review:

    "Incendiary Brewing
    Unreadable silver limited can
    Stout of fiery death )

Beautiful tan head, loads of belgian lace as it dissipates.

    Lovely chocolate and cola nose.

Fudgy chocolate until a nice pop of heat at the end.

I have mixed feelings about pepper/heat spiced beer.
I’m grateful for RJ pushing boundaries and getting me to try beer outside my comfort zone.

Not generally a fan of *most* pepper beers.

Incendiary Silver Limited Edition is a special, fun, easy to drink “spicy hot” beer.

This is less heat than the last pepper beer I gave a shot."

Fabulous review. Another huge shout out to davec (and our younger son-in-law) for their order, pick-up and delivery of our Dark Lord sets in July/August. I also included one of these in my allotment and will share with family and/or friends sometime in 2021.

    Style-flavored imperial stout
Format-pint can shared with our son tonight
    Canned on-08/20/20
    Serving vessels-snifters
Appearance-deep, rich brown with a small, tan head
    Nose-dark chocolate cocoa
    Mouthfeel-smoooooth
Tastes-strong vanilla and cinnamon, dark chocolate with some mild heat throughout, becoming a bit more prominent with warming over 45 minutes
    Adjuncts-cinnamon, Madagascar vanilla, habaneros
    IBU-probably 50
    ABV-10.5%
    Overall impression-much better than anticipated
Ymm, Beer rating-low cat 3; very comparable to Photon Sphere which might edge it out based on the BBA, IIRC; would absolutely sample again

The 2019 'Rrhari Crochet Dark Lord variant was amazing tonight. More tomorrow as it was 15% ABV and the fingers are fumbling.

Yet another humble bow to davec (and our younger son-in-law) for their efforts ordering and securing this for us.

Oh, BTW, this was poured at a fridge temp of about 40-45 degrees and warmed to probably 60 degrees over the hour it took to sip this.

No precipitation was involved in its consumption.
