Merry Monks from Weyerbacher, though very tasty, is not a Trappist ale.

I couldn't find a review on here. Searching for Acan didn't work. (I know, that sounds kinda funny)

    12.6%
    IBU?

Malt and Tequila on the nose.

This was a bit of a complex beer. I enjoyed what I got of it. I got the first few sips and then Mrs. Nrrrrvous claimed the rest.

Loved the progression from the Malt up front to the sweetness of the Agave to the Tequila after. Maybe a touch too sweet? I'd have to try another to know for certain.

Mrs. Nrrrrvous enjoyed it. Said it was definitely a high 2 or 3 for her.

    Thanks again dd!

"Next month, Olde Hickory Brewery in Hickory, N.C. says that it will be releasing Acan, an imperial brown ale brewed with sweet agave and aged for 16 months in tequila barrels. According to Steven Lyerly, master brewer at Olde Hickory Brewery, “folks with aversions to tequila might not like it, oh well.” The beer boasts a 12 percent ABV which makes it a “nicely dry” brown ale, according to the brewery."
"We" enjoyed this one. I wouldn't mind trying another sometime when I don't have to share.

From Foxworthy's 2020 Redneck Calendar today:

"You might be a redneck if...

...you try to drink your age in beers every birthday."

Umm, the answer is an emphatic, "No!"

Virtual Pub at 4pm ET on Saturday, 10/31.

    Halloween costumes encouraged.

    Theme is Trappist beer.

All are welcome, you neither have to drink beer, or have Trappist beer to join.

Seems like there might be a few fun stories to be shared since the last virtual pub."

This was ok. Poured dark/almost opaque. Smelled as described. Had a bit of an aftertaste I couldn't place. Low cat 2 for me.

Wonder what that AF stands for?
This one is pretty tart and has a dry finish. I like the Rubaeus, which has a bit more sweetness to it, better.

    ABV: 8%

Golden amber color, with lots of suspended white flecks.
Description reads like an iced latte. Aroma bears that out.
I came into this expecting it to be sweeter than it actually was. Feels a little "boozy" on the finish.
I'd take this over a Starbucks frappa-whatever any day. Cheaper, too
High cat 2/low cat 3 range. Have 3 more bottles to decide which it is.

Perhaps I need to include another Acan in our next meet-up .

Won't head to our local TJ's to search for this one.

However, I am looking forward to Choosey Mother, a chocolate peanut butter porter from Isley Brewing Company in Richmond, courtesy of a trader a few weeks ago from accfan.

If you like Rubaeus, Founders' Blushing Monk would be worth finding if they released it this year.

I like that policy of deciding based on 3 more bottles. What're you gonna do if it's a 2-2 tie in the top of the 9th inning?

Just ran by Krog Street Market in Atlanta to grab a six-pack of Blackberry Farms Saison and a six-pack of their IPA. The market has a superb beer store if any of you guys ever get to Atlanta. I will assume those who live in Atlanta are keenly aware of Krog street and Ponce markets. Fantastic places for food and adult beverages

Never heard of those places, but, it's been 7 years since we've been to Atlanta .

Stop what your doing. Drive down there right now. It is heaven for beer lovers. There is a walking trail with other places to buy beer between those 2 markets. They are like up scale food halls. Really good stuff for people who injoy beer and food. Which is basically all I enjoy.

But, but, but, I can't as I'm too busy posting on Ymm, Beer. About beer, really. Or places to buy beer. Or...
