Yet another beer to celebrate mattman's new gig.

(Thanks, RJ199 and the beergoddess, from whatever device you're posting...)

From Monday night, the next to last DNP-CD from Bob's Virtual Porter Pub

    Baltic Sunrise-Hardywood Park Craft Ales

Not really local unless you're really nrrrrvous.

Credit-Bob named the style and I chose this beer
Style-flavored Baltic porter (which is really a dark/black lager)
Format-500 ml bottle for $6.49, a steal if you like the style and/or are adventurous
    Stemware-Hardywood 2018 GBS tumbler
Appearance-dark, dark brown with a large, foamy tan head
    Nose-java and burnt grain
    Mouthfeel-mild/moderate bitterness yet smooth
Tastes-java, molasses, dark carmel, burnt sugar, earthy hops, more coffee
    Adjuncts-coffee
    IBU-33
    ABV-9.1%
Overall impression-much better than I expected; would buy another to share
Ymm, Beer rating-upper tier cat 2; the coffee took away the bad "aftertaste" that fuse mentioned; regular Baltic porter might be a upper level cat 1

Might have to return to Total Wine to get some Backwoods Bastard AND the BBA Quad if they have still have some for a side-by-side because even though they're different styles, the Quad evokes many memories of the ol' roy beer.

    From two nights ago:

    Blushing Padre
    Founders Brewing Company
    Fruit Beer
    10.8% ABV

This is a tequila barrel-aged version of Founders Blushing Monk which I have never tried. The description for Blushing Monk reads, "Blushing Monk is brewed with a ridiculous amount of raspberries and with a Belgian yeast strain that keeps our head cellar operator from sleeping for a week. It pours a stunning deep berry red and, at 9.2% ABV, has a surprising kick. The perfect dessert beer, it can be enjoyed on its own or paired with fresh cheeses, fruit, cakes and more. "

This, by all means, was a drinking experience. The raspberries were prominent to start and the tequila comes through at the finish. An impressive beer.

Blushing Monk is a great beer. This sounds better but I haven't seen this but will start looking.

Barrel Chest has Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest Märzen, the #7 rated (beeradvocate) Oktoberfest on sale. $10 for 6. Is it too early to start stocking up for Sept VP?

That would help tide us over for a while at least.

You should suggest that to some of your local breweries.

Is it five o'clock on anyone's watch yet today? If so, sip one or two for me tonight, and tomorrow and Sunday as my alarm/watch will not sound until Monday at 5 PM.
