A Catholic pilgrim decided to tour Europe. He went to Rome, and in the Vatican he saw a very odd thing: a pay phone with a sign “Talk to God, €200.” He didn’t have 200 Euro on him, so he moved on.

A week later, he was outside Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Looking over the scene of the reconstruction, he noticed again: an old pay phone in the garden behind the Cathedral with a sign “Talk to God, €200.” He had even less money by this point, so he moved on.

That Sunday, he was in Dublin and he walked by St. Patrick’s Cathedral. He went in, and saw a telephone in the vestibule with a sign: “Talk to God, €1.”

A priest was walking by, and the pilgrim stopped him. “Excuse me, Father,” asked the pilgrim, “all over Europe I have seen these phones but it cost two hundred Euro to talk to God. Here, it is only one Euro. Why is that, Father?”

“Well, my boy,” responded the priest, “it’s a local call from here!”

Don’t care for the title, had to share as I likely drank way more than my fair share of Olympia (“It’s the water!”) while at Duke.

And part one, which includes a lot of other undergrad familiar beer:

I'd comment that's a great joke but, in Dublin, they likely believe it's 100% true.

When you go for a stupid hot run, aka (Hey) Stupid, (it’s too) Hot (to) Run, New Belgium Mural Aqua Fresca hits the spot.

The original (watermelon lime hibiscus). Still haven’t tasted the two new ones.

    Cheers!

Good gracious, I think I've gulped all but the Grain Belt and Naragansett brews.

I stopped running about 11 years ago this summer after some minor surgery. Walking for me is just fine, but, I'm an old guy, too.

Sounds like a good beer choice.

(Fullsteam) Shenanigans aside, I set up a zoom for the virtual pub for 5pm ET tomorrow (7/11).

    The zoom is is 970 8940 3213

The password, in honour of the theme, is the almost ACC school that Duke beat in 2010 for the lacrosse championship.

The password is one phrase even though the school has a two part name.
The N and the D are capitalized.

Hopefully that’s enough clues for the password. 😁

Excellent! Thanks again! Looking forward to it, as usual.

Always worth another post for the #15 beeradvocate DIPA (or is it a TIPA?). Juicy, bitter (100 IBUs), dank and potent (10% ABV). Worth a 4 pack if you're ever in Ohio.

    You get three “house beers”.
Only rules are needs to be in can/bottle format (no 22oz or 750ml bottles, or larger).

What do you choose, and why?

    Currently:
    New Belgium Purist Lager
    Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing
    New Belgium Mural

Local version: (oh, I could probably do a lot of iterations of this list)
    Fullsteam Coffee is for Closers
    RBC Hell Yes Ma’am
Haw River Newlin’s Original Pale Ale

    Maine version:
    Allagash White
    Maine Brewing Company Lunch
    Bissel Brothers Lux

A bit of clarification (this is DBR, after all ): My guess is "no," but am I able to select one from each group?

Assuming “no,” I go Local. Because ... local.

Part of the Aberdeen eclectic 8 (no pun intended; ok, I lied). Been a long time since drinking one of these. Good coffee flavors. Not too high gravity. A “summer” stout? Maybe. Solid Cat 2.

Been several years for me for that one, too. Good memories.

Over a four year period, I’d venture to guess I had an uncountable number of Olympia beers.
