Variety like that is also a very good suggestion.

Whatever it takes to get Allagash Coolship beers in NC, I am in.

    Great funky barnyard nose.

Surprisingly balanced tart, funky, and hoppy.

I’d call this a desert island beer, given a choice.

    Cheers!🍻
    COOLSHIP resurgam-Allagash Brewing Company

Credit-the fuse north by northeast delivery service; thanks!!
Format-corked and caged 375 ml bottle
    Date bottled-Nov. 7, 2018
Style-1/2/3 year old blends of French wine barrel aged farmhouse ales
Stemware-why, my cute little Allagash tulip, of course
Appearance-clean/clear straw with two fingers of Belgian lacing
Nose-funk, wet hay, apples, pears, zinfandel vinegar
    Mouthfeel-oooh, tiny bubbles
Tastes-zinfandel wine vinegar, apples, pears, lemons; dry
    IBU-10ish
    ABV-6.4%
Overall impression-a superb pairing with stuffed salmon, smashed redskin potatoes with shredded parm and bacon bits and a Casesar salad
Ymm, Beer rating-well into cat 3 land; a brilliant beer; worth a journey to Maine or your local bottle shop as some Allagash coolships beers are here!

Ah, Red Oak Amber. My first craft beer, way back in the 1990s. Had one at their beer hall just Friday night. Tasty and as fresh as beer gets!
Man, if your Mom made you wear that color when you were a baby, and you're still wearing it, it's time to grow up!

Sierra Nevada 3 Weight Session IPA

    Super lacy head.

    Apple, pine, and pineapple nose.

    Luscious, fruity and remarkable.

    Format-half quart can
    Style-quadruple chocolate imperial milk stout
    Stemware-snifter, of course
    Freshness-canned on 10/29/2019 10:10 L4
    Appearance-20W50; moderate, foamy, cocoa-like head
    Nose-maybe chocolate?
    Mouthfeel-bordering on gooey
Tastes-if there were any more chocolates in here, it'd be a Southern Tier beer () or a pan of Grandma's fudge
    Grains-chocolate malts; flaked oats
Adjuncts-lactose, cocoa powder, 90% dark chocolate bars and cocoa nibs
    IBU-maybe 40?
    ABV-10.5%; IOW, alcoholic fudge
Overall impression-I'm really, really sorry I missed the 2018 version, their 3rd anniversary brewing
Ymm, Beer rating-solid cat 3; worth seeking out; decadent; beer dessert
Worth repeating this one. Took me over an hour to finish. What a dessert/nightcap beer from last PM!!

    Format-12 ounce bottle
Style-sour from a coolship I guess would be the best way to describe it
    Stemware-large Ommegang tulip
Appearance-cherry juice tinted apple juice; minimal head
    Nose-mildly tart; cherries and apples
Mouthfeel-mildly viscous is correct but not cloying
Tastes-a cocktail made with Raspberry Tart, Wisconsin Belgian Red, Apple Ale, not too sweet iced tea and splashes of lemonade and a Grand Marnier ending
    IBU-10? 20?
    ABV-maybe 5%
Overall impression-a fabulous, complex beer; fuse and RJ199 got about all the salient points above
Ymm, Beer rating-darn near busting out of the fuse cat 3 zone; it'd be great to hear if tbyers11 got any of this and what he thinks...

Sadly, "Only in Wisconsin" unless, of course, you have the proper connections
    From tonight:

    Kühler-New Glarus Brewing Company

    Local, but "Only in Wisconsin"

What's different almost 4 months later?

I think this bottle was a bit more cloying and a bit less tart. Perhaps a bit more sweet tea flavor with a splash of limeade, too.

Equally enjoyable, perhaps a bit more so this evening as I chose this to honor/toast my father who was born 100 years ago today (passing away almost 11 years ago). He was a huuuuge fan of New Glarus' Raspberry Tart and Wisconsin Belgian Red as we discovered both those beers in July, 1995 (?) at the 15th (?) annual Oregon Brewers Festival on the waterfront in downtown Portland.

    Cheers!!

A huge thanks to August West for securing a 4 pack of this for me last fall! I believe I'm still on the hook for the $18 he paid for this and some additional $$ for several others he provided during tailgate season. I've got the (freshly printed) cash and/or traders waiting to repay him sometime. Anytime.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Founders snifter (D'oh!) last Thursday. Color was a medium to dark amber with a small, tan head. It's Curmudgeon's Old Ale (or Old Curmudgeon Ale, just like me and my avatar) that has been aged in bourbon barrels that also previously contained maple syrup. It really does smell like bourbon-infused Vermont (none of that New Hamster or Canadian stuff ) 100% maple syrup (where are those pancakes?) and tastes like it, too, along with dark, dried fruits, molasses (added), almonds, vanilla and toasted coconut (none of those added). IBUs of 35 claimed on Untappd and 12.7 ABV on the label and tasted/felt every bit of it, too, taking about an hour to finish this one. Superb beer. I have 3 left for aging and/or trading.

    Not even close to local

    Credit-August West; thanks!!
    Format-12 ounce bottle
Style-flavored bourbon and maple syrup barrel aged old ale
    Stemware-Founder's snifter
    Freshness metrics-bottled on 8/22/18
    Appearance-same as above; slightly cloudy
    Nose-booze syrup on my pancakes
    Mouthfeel-silky
Tastes-caramel, bourbon, syrup, molasses, toasted coconut, oak, vanilla, almonds
    IBU-I'll go with 35 again
    ABV-12.7%; sipped very slowly
Overall impression-even smoother than a year ago; one of Founder's best offerings
Ymm, Beer rating-top tier cat 3 (dabs tear from cheek as I'll likely never see this again)

Toasting my father again as he was one of the original curmudgeons who I almost nominated as an Old Knucklehead awarded annually for the barleywine of the same name from the now defunct Bridgeport Brewing Company.

    Cheers!!

Asking for a friend- is Hardywood GBS palate fatigue a real thing?
