I can see that. Some complexity would probably do this beer good.

Well, I don't think it's the peach that is black but, instead, the color profile of the beer. Imagine thinking "peach" and instead pouring mahogany/brown? Interesting. I think the "black" comes from the black sea salt, that is mixed in with the peach and some coriander. Not as tart as I would have expected, and all the flavors are pretty subtle (especially the peach). A fascinating beer, and solid Cat 2. Props to the acquirer . . . .
Batch Number 036 Black Peach Gose-Nowhere in Particular (brewed and packaged by Figleaf Brewing Company)

Now I'm confused. I swear NiP has had a brick and mortar brewery since this summer-even drove by it in July or September visiting in Columbus

Credit-trader from son of devildeac; thanks!
    Format-12 ounce can
Appearance-WTH? This stuff looks like a clean but dark brown ale; Tripping William is correct a bout thinking and seeing; Whoa!
Nose-I got a fair amount of peach jam at first, then hints of salt
    Mouthfeel-very mild pucker
Tastes-peach jam first, then the salt taste buds took over and told me light brine; hints of lemon (not added)
Overall impression-an unexpected pleasure; not brilliant but quite a creation/combination
Ymm, Beer rating-top shelf cat 2; I hope fuse like his; I'll keep having our son select stuff from this brewery; thinking this is their 3rd brew I've sipped-all good

Yeah, this is one of those beers that makes you think (1/3 of the Jimmy V trifecta).

I believe one of the Lagunitas "Lil Sumpin'" variants is a Belgian IPA.

You may be correct. I had a Lil' Sumpin Sumpin recently and had to refresh my memory about what Heineken, err, Lagunitas says about this beer:

"Way smooth and silky with a nice wheatly-esque-ish-ness. A truly unique style featuring a strong hop finish on a silky body. A hoppy pale wheat ale that is great for IPA fans but so smooth that the hefeweizen fans dig it too."

They also make an unfiltered variant and a Lil' Sumpin Hazy and neither of those are described as a Belgian IPA. I'll keep looking as you stirred my curiosity and challenged my aging memory .

Faster than a mattman locomotive, I just finished this. Not surprisingly, devildeac’s review is on point. One of the better wheats I have had. Nice and juicy. Solid Cat 2 is correct. Thanks again for procuring, dd.

This is probably their flagship beer/best seller according to the folks where I bought it in Columbus. Always happy to oblige .

    Jackie O’s Oro Negro

A stout with cacoa nibs, vanilla beans, habaneros, and cinnamon sticks.

    Rich, thin head.

Nose is vanilla, chocolate, cinnamon and (gulp) a bit of heat.

    Mouthfeel is dense and creamy.

Chocolate is the lead note, followed by cinnamon, with a bitter heat finish.

The beer evokes the memory of DFH Theobroma.

A delicious beer, with the only minor mark against it being the heated finish.
Works for this beer well, and yet I’d be ok without it.

I can see why others think so highly of Jackie O’s.

    Cheers! 🍻

Three Floyds Alpha Klaus Holiday Porter

A delivery from devildeac last year.

A super piney nose, very Christmas-y.
Some subtle chocolate behind the pine.

Tastes way more like a black IPA than a porter, a fair confusion given the alleged copious amounts of hops in this beer.

Tickles the tongue with pine, sugar cookie, and chocolate.
    Hoppy, hoppy, hoppy finish.

A delightful beer. Thanks devildeac, and cheers all! 🍻

I'll get a slightly early start.

2019 Fiddlin' Fish HAss [sagegrouse "H"] Over Tea Kettle. Supposedly a beer emulating Russian tea. I have previously reviewed the 2018 version. Pours a very dark copper. Brewed with cinnamon, clove, dark Belgian candy sugar, lemon peel, and blood orange. High-gravity at 9.3% ABV. This is a terrifically complex beer, with all those various flavors shining through at different points. Easily Cat 3. I got a four-pack of this at Stella the other day, so I wouldn't mind trading one, at some point. A really warming holiday beverage.

Tangy with a finish that reveals the pepper in the pink peppercorn adjunct in this beer.

Poured with a great head that diminished rapidly.

Tastes a little bit like liquid apricot fruit leather.
Sticky sweet with a sour note at the end.

I enjoyed this far better than I thought I might.
I guess the tax man knows what to do with apricots.

    Thanks devildeac!
