    Another long 15 minute wait.

    Opaque inky black.

    Super boozy chocolate nose.

Sweet cherry yields to chocolate and finishes with a bold whiskey flourish. This is a chocolate covered, booze filled cherry in a glass.

There is an element of soy on the finish. 😢
Enough to be a mild distraction, thankfully not enough to abandon.

    Time to experiment a bit.
Ate a couple salt and vinegar almonds to reset my palate. Still some elements of soy, not sure if it is similar to before, or less pronounced.

Tried a Trader Joe’s oreo (“Jo Jo”) next. Seemed to make the soy much worse.

    Final test- cheddar cheese popcorn.
    Back to minimal soy.

I’d say if you don’t have my soy sensitivity, this beer would blow you away. Even so, thoroughly enjoyed this stout on International Stout Day.

    Cheers, and thanks devildeac! 🍻
This sounded very familiar-I had almost forgotten this beer.

    You're most welcome.

    They both sound decadent.

Hmm, maybe we'll eat in downtown Derm tomorrow and visit Fullsteam before tip-off...

From last PM, folks as I'm not drinking a DIPA on International Stout Day

Credit-August West from an October tailgate; thanks!!
    Format-12 ounce bottle
Appearance-golden yellow with a billowing head
Nose-grapefruit with rind; orange with rind; hints of pine
    Mouthfeel-pleasantly bitter
Tastes-match the aromas; a very nice balance
    IBU-55
    ABV-8%
Grains-Two-row Pale, Caramelized malts, Acidulated, Oats, Wheat
Hops-Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Crystal, Magnum, Idaho 7
Overall impression-gotta admit after reading the hop contents that this was a lot more pleasant than expected given all the "C" hops
Ymm, Beer rating-strong cat 2 in a very crowded field; an excellent "closer" from the last of the six bottles AW traded last month; worth a taste

    Finally, a stout :

    Sunday Morning Stout-Weyerbacher Brewing Company

    Credit-all mine!
    Format-12 ounce bottle
    Numbers on bottle neck-01/30/18; 01/30/23; 696973B4
Appearance-dark, dark brown with a thin, tan head
    Nose-coffee and dark chocolate
    Mouthfeel-smoooooth
Tastes-lots of java and dark chocolate with molasses, dark/burnt caramel, toasted coconut and vanilla (neither added) and a warm, bourbon finish
    IBU-maybe 50
    ABV-12.7%; frightening
    Overall impression-an excellent beverage
Ymm, Beer rating-treading in cat 3 territory; I'd like a bit more bourbon flavors here but that's being pretty picky; if you see a stray one, buy it!

I've got one more stout to review but it's too late and I'm not finished with my 2nd small snifter yet and I've fallen into an Abyss...

No bet, because I meant the older, larger format 2017 bottle. That I’ll bet a beer on, no pie. For some reason I think Hardywood does better with the larger format bottles. Just anecdotal.

My Stout Day beverage: 2018 Foothills Dead & Berried. This is more mellow, and just slightly more tart, than the new 2019 release. I think the year's worth of aging did it good. The berry flavors are a bit more prominent in the 2018, as well.

A terrific Cat 3 beer. Probably going to keep my remaining 2019's (meaning the ones that remain after I distribute to y'all ) laying down for a good bit now.

You may well be right. We came to the same conclusion WRT Allagash Curieux earlier this year and/or last year.

If anyone is interested, I will bring some beers from The Veil and The Answer to the pregame Saturday. Is the True Blue Brew Crew still tailgating? I will drop by w IPAs and Stouts to share.

My wife celebrated her 30th bday a couple of weeks ago. My (favorite) aunt included a gift for me in her gift basket.

Tonight seems like the perfect night to drink it

Fuse posed this question a while ago and I'm not sure it was ever answered so here ya go from the Fullsteam tap list:

"A beer/cider collaboration with our friends at Stem Ciders (Denver, CO). Clove and banana esters fuse seamlessly with fresh apple. Mosaic and Citra hops add a layer of tropical, juicy punch. Our house mixed-culture wild yeast produced a dry, slightly funky, and tart apple ale that showcases apples, yet still retains a beer-y character.

FUN FACT! Though the blending of malted grain and apples into a fermented beverage has surely been around for centuries, the term "Graf" to describe the beverage comes from Steven King in his book The Dark Tower.

RJ199 couldn't either. Just delivered his bomber, which netted me a 2019 Firestone Walker Parabola BBA Imperial Stout in return. Ymmmm, beer!

And, speaking of Foothills dark beer, I just saw come across that 2019 Moravian Porter will be released on November 29th.

Is it appropriate to have a Fat Tire (New Belgium Brewing Company, Fort Collins, CO) while watching the Duke-Colorado State game tonight? Or is that considered to be supporting the enemy?
