Thanks! Definitely will do. Their tailgate is Fuse Category 4. I didn't realize that show travelled. As Ozzie previously noted, I hope they know how much their outstanding efforts (pre and post-game) are appreciated. That quality tailgate sets the stage for top shelf camaraderie and makes the whole game experience well beyond worthwhile (regardless of the outcome on the field).

Our younger daughter and SIL plan on doing this soon or, may wait until the spring thaw in 2020:

    Drink someone else's local!

    Credit-accfanfrom1970; thanks!!
    Format-12 ounce bottle
Appearance-a clean, clear, light gold with a thin, fizzy head
Nose-sage (no parsley, rosemary, thyme or grouse)
    Mouthfeel-light, bubbly
Tastes-sage, then hints of apple, pear and straw; didn't perceive much sweet potato and neither did younger son-in-law who shared the bottle with me
    IBU-28
    ABV-6.4%
Overall impression-an interesting and well-executed "light" beer; I'd serve with grilled, non-BBQ'd pork or chicken or a plate of pasta with marinara
    Ymm, Beer rating-solid cat 2

Nose-"...Millions of peaches, peaches for me..."
    Mouthfeel-juicy and almost pulpy
Tastes-see nose; cooked peaches, vanilla, cinnamon, peach skin with some bread/dough
    IBU-maybe 20
    ABV-8.2%
Adjuncts-might be some peaches ; vanilla, cinnamon, lactose, coconut (not sure I'd have guessed this)
Overall impression- a really fun dessert beer/nightcap
Ymm, Beer rating-high cat 2; their Peach Tripel, which I really like, turned into a liquid dessert

Does this mean there are two breweries in West Jefferson now?

With a 2017 population of 1,290, it does indeed mean there are two breweries in West Jefferson now, New River and Boondocks.

I recall Boondocks as being generally average to meh, with maybe one beer of the few I tried standing out even a little (maybe a Belgian style single or saison).

Stunning that West Jefferson can support 2 breweries (in a good way).

You are correct about average. I've had one of "their" flights once and, on subsequent visits, I made sure to order a "guest" flight.

    Ardent BBA Honey Ginger

    11.5%?????? Whoa.

After reading reviews here, I have been super excited to try this beer from Ardent.

Colour of grade B maple syrup, really no head and minimal visible carbonation.

I waited a very long 15 minutes to allow the beer to warm up.

Smells like ginger ale at first sniff.
Second sniff is ginger ale followed by bourbon.

    Nice mouthfeel, almost syrupy.

Honey sweet up front, big bourbon burn on the finish.
Midpalate transitions from honey to fleetingly bitter before bourbon overwhelms.

Again, I’m not a big mixed drinks guy and yet I can picture a lowball glass with ice, half full of bourbon, topped off with ginger ale and a little drizzle of honey as a possible inspiration for this beer.

Was well worth the wait. What a beer!

Cheers, and thanks accfanfrom1970 and devildeac! 🍻

You're most welcome. Glad I traded with accfanfrom1970 and got a couple extra bottles of this beer with you in mind.

Sigh. Guess I am writing off Weyerbacher.

Imperial metallic pumpkin has shattered my former top three pumpkin beers.

Farewell, Weyerbacher. I did enjoy your beer at its height.

    Bombshell Tripel Vixen

From what they claim is NC's first (only?) female-owned brewery comes a riff on the Belgian Tripel. Not the best riff. The color is great (nice, bright gold), but the rest just sort of falls flat. Not much on the nose, not terribly flavorful, a little bitterness on the aftertaste. Good to try once. Cat 1.

Can’t believe nothing from Hardywood, but nice to see four from JackieO’s.

Yea, that was surprising about Hardywood given some of the delicious GBS variants they've released, plus some of their other one-offs.
