My bad - NoDa
I don't really like Centennial either. But this was a good beer. It was very West Coast, and I didn't really read the can enough to figure that out before I bought it. I was a little distracted at Stella by some other things on the opposite side of the store. I thought Dreamsicle IPA from NoDa sounded fun. And it was fun, just in a different way than I expected.
Younger daughter and her husband currently vacationing in Dublin, Ireland and planning to make their Brexit to Scotland tomorrow. They just finished sharing a pint of fresh Guinness draft at the Guinness Storehouse, followed by a bottled Guinness "exotic" from Nigeria (no prince involved ) at 7.4% ABV. Both were quite tasty they claim.

Alas, I was never able to sample this fine beverage, despite scouring the cellars of several elder Turk uncles.
Are you sure you're on the correct thread?

Trying to convince younger daughter and her husband to also visit BrewDog Brewery, home of some of the highest ABV "beers" in the world, while they're in Scotland. We'll see...

In the past, I think BrewDog has had others on the list.

Thanks for these recs! I stopped by Total Wine and they indeed had Clawhammer. They also had Genesis, Medora, Silencio, and Montmarreto from your list above. They also had Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin, Rum Barrel Aged Pumking, and Foothills Sexual Chocolate Jan. 2019.
I might have picked up a few of those.
First Fruits - Oxbow Brewing (bottled 2018) - 7% ABV - Farmhouse ale barrel aged 6-12 months with cherries, raspberries, and Oxbow grown strawberries.
This is the best sour ale with strawberries that I've tasted. I don't think they're easy to do well in a beer, but this one nailed it. The taste is raspberries, beautiful strawberries, then cherries in that order. The tartness rises to balance out the fruit. Oak and vanilla dry out the flavors. It has a nice, tart cherry finish. Crisp mouthfeel. The flavors are delicious and very impressive. I'm interested to taste a New Glarus after seeing how nice this was. Fuse category 3.
JackieO’s Rodeo Time, a Rye barleywine style ale brewed with candi syrup aged in bourbon barrels for 24 months.11.3% abv. Brewed with 6 different types of rye malt, this is a rich, boozy well aged beer. Like chocolate bourbon candy. A delicious dessert beer. Category 1.
Oxbow is highly underrated.
Folks in Maine I’ve met don’t seem to appreciate or comprehend a brewery that is loosely based on farmhouse ales, or beer that defies styles and categorization.
I’d also say Oxbow pricing is a factor. I’d say their beer is worth it and at the same time say its expensive.
Catalyst - Oxbow Brewing - 8.5 % ABV - Barrel-aged mixed fermentation famhouse ale brewed with estate honey
This was good, not quite as good as the First Fruits. The flavor is pretty tart lemon, earthy funk, with subtle but appreciable honey finally coming through. The honey does not pop out, but you can find it. It's well carbonated, drinkable and a good sour. Fuse Category 2
I agree. I'm surprised those in Maine don't love this. They are spoiled with great lobster, lakes, and beer! Clearly some fine ingredients, time, and work went into making these great beers. But you know I'm going to love a brewery who makes great farmhouse ales.
You're right, the issue is they just aren't cheap. Stella carries lots of Oxbow and recommended them. But I see many of the same ones still sitting there on the shelf week after week. I don't regret getting these. Very high quality beer.
Concoction recommended by Stella
Maybe roughly equal parts - NoDa Gordgeous mixed with Bell's Best Brown Ale - 6.1 % ABV
This works if you want to take some of the pumpkin pie spice intensity out of the Gordgeous. Don't get me wrong. I love the NoDa Gordgeous just how it is and don't think it's too sweet. But this is fun to try as the Bells adds some brown sugar to the mix.
It smells caramel, nuts, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, sweet malty, and pumpkin.
It tastes like lighter pumpkin sweetness up front, brown sugar, sweet biscuity malts, caramel, toffee, and light floral hops at the finish mixing with the nutmeg, clove, and cinnamon. Very minimal bitterness.
It's fun and worth a try - Fuse Category 2.

The New Glarus selections will be:
1. Raspberry
2. Cherry
3. Apples, cranberries and cherries
They brew a strawberry-rhubarb beer in very limited quantities and the one time "in season" that our younger son-in-law made a NG beer run for us on a trip back to Chicago after a business jaunt to Wisconsin, the 3 stores on the border that usually have anywhere from 8-12 NG products were all out of the strawberry-rhubarb one. Perhaps tbyers11 might share his thoughts about this particular beer as I *think* he's had it before.
