"An ode to cold beer and sparkling wine" this tastes like a stock Allagash Belgian to me with tasty Sauvignon Blanc must - "the freshly pressed juice of the grapes". "Then we ferment it with both lager and champagne yeast to create a tart, crisp, and dry profile. The finished beer's aromas of pear, grape, and light hops pair with a flavor profile that's a mix of tropical fruit and the snappy spritz of a freshly picked grape. We suggest sipping 2 Lights by a water source that's too big to see across."

It's a nice little refreshing beer, maybe a little dry for me. But I'm not someone who would usually ever order a Sauvignon Blanc. I don't love champagne either (but I'm sure I rarely if ever taste the good stuff). My wife would, and she could taste the Sauv blanc. I think it's well done, especially if you love white wine, saisons, and Belgians. I didn't really smell the pear they mentioned. It does have a bubbly, carbonated mouthfeel from the champagne yeast- just right, not excessive, like a thin champagne. I'd rate it Fuse Category 2 - I'm glad I enjoyed 1 bottle and not the 4 pack, but it's a very good beer.

So how about a Fuse Category 3 - the really really good one:
I'm embarrassed to say tonight is the first time I've tried this, but I loved it. Thanks to fuse for the rec and direction here!

    White - Allagash Brewing - 5.2 % ABV - 13 IBU
It almost makes me angry that Untapped rates this 3.76 average - um no. Much much better. But then I remember fuse is right, different strokes for different folks; me certainly included.
Wheat, coriander, and Curacao orange peel in such a beautiful, light Belgian. I don't think Belgians get much better, but I probably haven't had enough to say that. It's more smooth and drinkable than Belgians often are for me (I'm used to more sippers). It smells like bananas and slight clove. I love the Coriander spice balanced perfectly with the orange. Rousing the yeast per the bottle instructions was a great call. It's crisp, light, and nicely carbonated. The finish is delicious wheat and orange.
Overall Fuse Category 3. Yumm. I think Stella told me that over 70% of the beer Allagash sells is this beer. They make many amazing beers, but this is certainly one of them.
I just read about Two Lights a couple days ago. Never seen it, definitely want to try it.

On Allagash White, glad you enjoyed it. It’s definitely a brilliant and versatile beer.

Counting down a couple more Trophys/Trophies from last PM:

#3 and probably my favorite from the flight:

    Over My Helmet (draft)-Trophy Brewing

I don't have a clue about the name . It's a name I might expect from Crank Arm Brewing.

Black session IPA, a style I've never heard of/tasted before.

Pour was a dark, dark brown with a thin, tan head. Subtle nose of chocolate, coffee and citrus (no adjuncts mentioned). Tasted like a chocolate-covered grapefruit-orange jellied candy dipped in a cup of coffee. A tad more bitter than I'd expect from a session IPA but the heavily roasted grains might be responsible for that. I'll guess 40 IBUs to blend with the 4.5% ABV, about as expected for the style. I'd pair with a coffee-rubbed beef roast or steak and would definitely sample again. A solid Cat 2.

    Batting clean-up:

    Software Glitch (draft)-Trophy Brewing Company

    (yet another) NEIPA

    Hazy? Yep.
    Yellow color (variant)? Yep
    Pineapple? Yep-not added
    Guava? Yep-not added
Bitter? Yep, but not too much-I'll guess 40 again
    Moderate ABV? Yep-6.4%
    Any special/distinguishing characteristics? Nope
    Purchase again? Not likely

Good effort on the style but nothing really stands out with this one. Happy to have tasted. Cat 2 (almost )

Shoot, not just Asheville as the NC ABC board forbid its entry into our fine state:

"Agency initially rejected the name because polygamy is illegal. The vendor is appealing the decision."

Sounds familiar. You talkin' about this:

    "Send lawyers, beer, and money
The yeast has hit the fan..."

    Or something like that .

    Beer name/description/story of the day?

    "Buzzed Aldrin IPA- American

    • 7.2% ABV

    • 32 IBU

    • Fiddlin' Fish Brewing Company

    • Winston-Salem, NC

50 years ago, Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong were the first humans to land on the moon. On 7/20, they spent 2.31 hours on the surface of the moon after successfully landing Apollo 11. This is undoubtedly the beer they would have drunk in celebration if they could have. Buzzed Aldrin IPA is 7.20% ABV and we hopped it with 2.31 pounds of Galaxy hops and 11 additions of Apollo hops. It features a fruity aroma and flavor profile, featuring notes of papaya, pineapple, and mango, and enough gravity to bring you back down to earth. Here’s to you, Neil and Buzz!"

On tap today at Bottle Revolution in Apex.

No, I had a short break at the off and decided to peruse the Bottle Rev draft lists at their various locations. I'd have warned you if I was in your area.
