    Credit-Tripping William; thanks!!!!
Style-spiced winter ale; some features of a Belgian style dubbel
    Format-pint aluminum holder
    Stemware-Ommegang tulip
Appearance-clear/clean medium brown; modest, lacy head
Nose-"Russian tea" as they tried to emulate; no espionage
    Mouthfeel-slightly spicy, slightly sweet
Tastes-cinnamon, clove, brown sugar, orange juice, some dark fruits (not added)
Adjuncts-cinnamon, clove, dark Belgian candi sugar, lemon peel (didn't perceive this); blood orange
    IBU-10 (corrected from 3/20/20 entry)
    ABV-9.3%; well hidden
Overall impression-one of the better spiced winter ales I've ever sipped (top 5 easily, maybe top 3); not overly spiced
Ymm, Beer rating-high quality cat 3; I'll order a 4 pack of these for this December
    From last PM:

ssA Over Tea Kettle-Fiddlin' Fish Brewing Company (first word of beer name *might* need to be re-arranged _

Credit-TW as buying agent and RJ199 as mule-ing agent; thanks and thanks!!

    Totally worth another order!

I'll stand by the above review from early COVID times. Fun, enjoyable and delicious beer. Son got #1 and younger son-in-law got #2 with my can being #3. Hmm, one left; gonna have to put this in a trader pack for one of the RVA purchase/delivery guys.

With maple, chocolate and coffee, maybe a mug would have been a wiser choice from which to sip.

Nothing new but oh so good weekend -

Started with 750 mL corked & caged bottle Christmas Island, 11.5% ABV, Gingerbread Stout with toasted coconut aged 15 months in Caribbean Rum barrels. Dessert, split over two days. Loved the taste of cinnamon on the finish.

Ardent Honey Ginger, with dinner - beef and scallops. Classic ginger, sweet, crisp. Two more four packs delivered to be shared.

BBA GBS. Capping off the weekend. So good I bought six.

    And the Packers won

Beer #5 in our two flights.

Not just a Scottish ale but a Scottish strong ale at 10% ABV.

Dark brown in color with a wispy head. Wonderful scents of toffee, dark caramel greeted me from the 5 ounce sample, followed by the same with hints of smoke/peat, milk chocolate, dark whole wheat toast, some dark, dried fruits and a mild alcohol burn. Grains>>>(earthy) hops here with the IBUs probably in the 30 range.
Sipped the Wee Heavy last night while sitting around the fire. Perfect beer for that!

Zaftig - Wee Heavy Scotch Ale

Local for someone along the Beer Mule Chain!

    10% - Aye!

Pours a nice dark mahogany/rusty brown with a good half inch of light foam.

Hints of the booze, some dark fruits.

Tastes - wonderful winter beer for me, you guys can keep your Stouts and Porters. A little brown sugar maybe, caramel? Toffee? The sweets blend well with the malt, barley. Finishes with just enough of the booze to remind you that its 10%.

If I recall, I have really enjoyed the couple of Zaftig brews that have been traded my way. Thanks devildeac!

Easy upper Cat 2/lower Cat 3 for me.

I was thinking - If I had had this on a hot summer evening, probably a mid Cat 2. But since it was a chilly winter evening, this beer paired perfectly - boosts it to a Cat 3 level.

Delighted you enjoyed it! Timing, timing, timing.

I think the only other Zaftig brew I brought back in November was Nuttin2It, a high gravity pecan brown ale. Both of these are available in barrel-aged versions but limited editions/releases/availability.

I also note I should get up a bit earlier in the AM and/or look at Ymm, Beer sooner.

Yep, I remember the Pecan Brown was good also! I'm currently 2/2 on Zaftig.

Savoring the last Lickinghole Creek 12th Night Quadruple Ale. Probably the last until next season. Might be time for a new order from LCCB.

    Ahhn, wonderful memory.

Answer to yesterday afternoon's query about the Trillium/Equilibrium question: when I get my allotment from RJ199, I'll put one (or two) with your name written on it (them) into our next trader package, likely in February as he's not available this weekend for an exchange.

Man, it just packs on the pounds with me.

Still local. Still decadent and delicious. One pint went to Chicago and the other went to Columbus so this was the final edition from the 4 bagger RJ delivered last month.
