    Another "imported" beer (from Durham):

    "Fullsteam American Promise
    Paw Paw DIPA

Other than being referenced in a song in the original Disney animated The Jungle Book, not sure I know what a paw paw is beyond “a fruit”.

Smells very orange juicy with a lime twist.

Whoa. Creamy mouthfeel, and has a bit of vanilla and orange. A beer based Orange Julius.

I only bought one can, wish I had bought more."

Hopefully, LegoBatman and Nrrrrvous didn't come away from the Zoom room thinking, "These folks are all a buncha loonies."

    BeerAdvocate write-up:

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/259/444089/

Definitely a quad, very dark and cloudy. The sour is not overpowering but is definitely there. Lots of flavors going on.

Certainly not Rochefort 10, but nothing is. Definitely worth a try if you find it, your palette is more refined than mine in general and certainly at the moment.

(aback to hot toddies, thanks for the info on Woodford Reserve!)

Hope everyone had fun today. Couldn't attend but drinking a couple of Boundary Tree Hoppy Saisons from Blackberry Farm. Pretty delicious.

    Thanks!!

You don't give your beer perceptions enough credit, especially after the time you spent in Belgium.

For those who got too much foam with the Orval, it's probably because you didn't have the proper stemware from the monastery:

This glass would have been really cool to have had with any of the Rochefort ales.

Or, it was poured by a waitress from Hooters instead of a well-trained friar.

Imitation and quite unattractive waitress from Hooters.

    Mr. Balihai-Casita Cerveceria

    Down east NC is local.

Credit-a keen eye, plenty of prior CC products and the need to do some trading with RVA folks
    Style-Triple tiki IPA (don't ask, that's what's on the label )
Format-remnants of a pint sized aluminum tree
Stemware-short cocktail glass (hey, it's "inspired by our cocktail of the summer;" another label quote
Appearance-murky pineapple juice with some chunkiness
    Nose-pineapple coffee
    Mouthfeel-juicy
Tastes-pineapple juice, orange, assorted other tropical fruits, coffee (whaaaaa), pith
    Hops-Citra, Sabro, Matueka and Amarillo
Grains-Pilsner malt, raw wheat, flaked wheat, oats
    Adjuncts-pineapple, lemon zest and coffee
    IBU-maybe 50
    ABV-11% (dangerous)
Overall impression-a bit dissonant with tropical fruit and coffee but, WTH, I learned this is a real cocktail; the congealed sediment looked like raw oyster
Ymm, Beer rating-strangely enough, I liked this but had higher hopes so this ends up a high cat 2; hope the RVA folks like it better than I did

Premium Pilsner-Spencer Brewery (the only US Trappist brewery)

    Local? Haha!

Credit-a great theme and the chance to try a new brewery's product
    Style-(whistling)
    Format-12 ounce bottle
    Stemware-boring pint glass
Appearance-ever so slightly hazy yellow with a large, foamy head
Nose-floral with a bit of spice
    Mouthfeel-tiny bubbles
Tastes-floral Euro hops/bitterness, corn, hint of light caramel
    IBU-my guess is 30
    ABV-4.7%
Overall impression-good representation of the style, perhaps a shade better than expected
Ymm, Beer rating-upper cat 2; happy Total William had it available, their only Spencer product in the store; would try another from this brewery

    Zundert 8-Trappistenbrouwerij de Kievit

Die Netherlands is nicht lokal (or something like that)

Credit-great theme and recognizing the name after learning the 14 official Trappist breweries in the world
Style-listed under dark strong Belgian ale (see below)
    Format-330 ml bottle
Best before end-10/07/21 10GR 07:21 (guessing it's at least a couple years old)
    Stemware-short wine glass
Appearance-cloudy, medium brown; generous, creamy tan head
Nose-brown sugar syrup and dark fruits
    Mouthfeel-bubbly
Tastes-raisins, dates, figs, caramel, earthy bitterness
    IBU-30?
    ABV-8%
Overall impression-very good beer but easy to see why it's a 3* recruit and not a 5* like those at the top of this list; tasted more like a dubbel
Ymm, Beer rating-skirting the upper edges of cat 2; a bit "thin" for the "strong Belgian ale" category and spendy, too at $9 bottle less a small discount coupon

It appears LegoBatman made a wise choice removing this from his cart and filling his 6er with all better beers.

    Nah, just reinforcing existing perceptions.
