Also from earlier this week:
Hornswoggler-The Veil Brewing
Credit-nyesq83; thanks!! (sorry, accfanfrom1970, nyesq83 left this on the tasting table just before the ND game )
Format-half quart can
Style-flavored milk stout
Stemware-Stella snifter
Appearance-dark, dark brown with a foamy, tan head
Nose-baker's chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon
Mouthfeel-mildly viscous
Tastes-dark chocolate milk, cinnamon, vanilla, molasses with a hint of heat at the end as it warmed
Adjuncts-lactose, cocoa nibs, chocolate, vanilla, marshmallows, cinnamon and Ancho chiles
IBU-50 or less
ABV-7%
Overall impression-a very good milk stout, bordering on imperial
Ymm, Beer rating-strong cat 2; the heat, though mild, keeps it from being a cat 3; I'd readily have another of these
I *think* The Veil has brewed a number of Hornswoggler variants (I'll let accfanfrom1970 comment here) and this is my first and there's another waiting from Saturday's tailgate that will easily find its way to my glass later this week.

Here's another logged earlier this week:
Fool's Gold (nitro draft!)-Bill's Front Porch Pub and Brewery
A perfect beer for me .
Darn near local! (from Wilmington, NC)
Credit-my VISA!
Style-blonde stout ; (no, not a stout blonde )
Appearance-amber/yellow/orange; creamy light beige head
Nose-coffee
Mouthfeel-silky
Tastes-java first, then some chocolate and some Euro floral hop bitterness
IBU-20 maybe
ABV-6.6%
Overall impression-quite an interesting beverage concoction and high quality
Ymm, Beer rating-solid cat 2; would definitely have another and recommend trying the style and/or sampling another brew from Bill's

Older daughter and her husband just left The Veil because it was so freaking crowded they could barely move. Sad, as I'd hoped for them to buy enough take-out beers there'd be none left for accfanfrom1970 when he returned home later today or tomorrow.

I heard Ardent released more BBA honey ginger. They picked four good ones.
A trader from RJ99, exchanged for Dead & Berried. I probably should have been patient enough to lay this down for a year. A BBA beer, it is really complex, but a smidge harsh. Wood flavors, black cherry, and a touch of chocolate. Definitely Cat 3, but my imagination has this being terrific with some mellowing. Definitely worth tracking down.
"Amazing what a minute can do."
For you Hardywood GBS set owners from last year, I am opening the set only variant - Rum Barrel Mega GBS. 12.5% abv, 55 ibu’s. Aged 4 months in rum barrels. After the missed field goal and instant Syracuse touchdown, I think I’ll need it to get thru the game. Letting it warmup, review to follow.
Virtual Pub Stout Day 11/16
Three Floyds Wig Splitter Coffee Stout
Strong enough coffee nose to perk you right up.
Strong, super roasty iced coffee all the way to the end, which surprisingly is honey sweet.
I’d been holding on to this bottle for a special occasion after opening its twin during a stout party a few years back.
This is an excellent beer, highly recommended.
Major hat tip to devildeac for this beer. 🍻
Time to start drinking with the start to the fb game.
Hardywood Rum Barrel Mega GBS. If the regular gbs is “freakin Christmas in a bottle,” this is Christmas in a bottle in the Caribbean. It brings those rum flavors to the ginger and honey. Ginger up front, bit of rum on the nose, hint of molasses on the finish. Gets better as it warms, and now I wonder what a 2nd year of aging would add. Smooth and dangerous at 12.5%, upper category 3. Really unique, really good.
