We have your beer when you're ready for it. I'm still working my way through the RVA haul, but haven't gotten to yours yet.

Were there some Ohio beers involved in that multi-player exchange, too?

    A friend is inquiring.

Credit-from fuse's delivery case a few weeks ago; thanks!!
    Style-oak aged and fruited IIPA
    Format-pint can
    Stemware-Ommegang tulip
    Appearance-unfiltered raspberry juice; fizzy head
    Nose-raspberries and citrus
Mouthfeel-a bit sour and a lot fruity
Tastes-unsweetened raspberry juice, orange, wood, grapefruit, tart
    Adjuncts-half ton of raspberries
    Hops-Enigma
    Aging-French Oak spirals
    IBU-none quoted so I'll guess 50
ABV-11.2% (not enough to overcome a 15 point deficit)
Overall rating-not quite a Veil smoothie but still a very interesting creation
Ymm, Beer rating-low cat 3; happy to have 3 left from the two 4 packs I ordered to share/drink/trade

(coulda sworn I reviewed this before but couldn't locate it; must've been another poster )

From last night - Haw River Crimson Velvet Imperial IPA brewed with a (1/2) ton of Raspberries and Aged on Oak Spirals and then dry-hopped with some Enigma hops.

    11.2%

    IBU - 48

Poured a nice reddish/brown with a good amount of bubbles, not really foam, but bubbly. Hints of the raspberries to the nose, a little boozy, a little Oaky.

A great blend of the three - Hops, Raspberry and Oak Barrel. Not a sour, definitely more hops than the usual sour. They clearly were not going for a Raspberry tart, and that's good!

It seemed the Raspberries were more upfront when it was cold, then as it warmed you got more hops, then at the end was the barrel...

Went down easy for 11.2%, on taste alone I would have put it more at the 8-9%. Paired well with the Veggie Curry we had for dinner.

Thanks fuse! Glad I've got a couple more hiding! Low to Mid Category 3 range?

I'd grade this as low cat 3, a notch below New Anthem, Burial and Veil products of similar ilk. Still, a really good beer and I have several to share/trade with family over the holidays.

Guess I did review it about a month ago. Shoulda searched a bit better/longer/more thoroughly. At least I'm consistent in my tastings.

    A renewed glassware experiment

So, the Black Oak Doppelbock I have been enjoying lately has usually been drunk from a fluted pilsner style glass. Today, though, I poured it into a tall wheat-beer glass. Wow; what a difference! Way more chocolate notes and way less “lager” breadiness. It turns almost sweet. I was blown away. Great stuff!

Style-IPA on the can but it's really a NEIPA or hazee joose
    Format-pint cylinder and all mine!
    Stemware-DFH nonic pint
Appearance-quite cloudy, foamy and pineapple yellow
    Scents-pineapple and grapefruit
    Mouthfeel-juicy with a little bit
    Tastes-grapefruit, pineapple and stone fruits
    Hops-Mosaic, Citra and Simcoe
    IBU-maybe 40
    ABV-6.3%
Overall impression-a very finely crafted ale
Ymm, Beer rating-low cat 3 in a socially undistanced environment; worth a can or two (oh, I did get 2)

Yea, LegoBatman certainly spurred me to investigate this a bit more with his post recently.

    From the Ommegang website:

"Blurring the line between brewing and winemaking, our Co-Fermentation Project explores the enticing intersect of grapes and grain. Each release co-ferments a blend of traditionally-brewed wort and the juice of wine grapes, often followed by aging in oak wine barrels. The Project aspires to achieve a blend that surpasses the sum of its parts, surprising even the most discerning palates and expanding expectations of what beer can be."

I have acquired the remainder of the traders headed to NC this weekend! Good thing I had some plans for some different breweries lined up because The Veil sold out of their new Tastee immediately and also another one that I had been eyeing to pick up!
Never fear! The Answer to the Three Notch'd question has saved the day!
