Didn’t think it would take much for that quote to resurface 🤣

Same with Veil's Wangdoodle which you got because I vaguely recalled accfan had promised to you, therefore I took another single of something else that I'll remember/get to eventually .)
Fuse mentioned he was a big Ronald Dahl fan -

“The Whangdoodle is an imaginary creature of undefined character, often dismayed and discontent; a creature of sorrow in folklore and children's literature, most notably used by British authors Roald Dahl and Julie Andrews.”

How that relates to Veil using the name for a BBA Stout I have no idea. You might have gotten the Veil Oreo, RJ got the Veil Reese’s. I can’t remember.

I didn't see RJ's and I read most of the labels from you and Nrrrrvous and my (usually, pretty good) memory is that fuse got the Oreo variant. I'm pretty sure he got a Hornswoggler, too. I can't remember what I chose to "balance" the Hornswoggler. Too many great beers .

    From last PM:

    Devil's Tramping Ground-Aviator Brewing Company

From right here in Wake County; what's not to like with a name like this?

Credit-saved the last one for myself as I traded the other 3 to accfan and Nrrrrvous
    Style-(imitation) Belgian tripel
    Format-3/4 pint can
    Stemware-Ommegang tulip
Appearance-light bronze; fizzy, short duration head
Nose-hints of banana, bubblegum, clove and orange
    Mouthfeel-it tickled a bit
Tastes-orange, pinch of zest, clove, bubblegum, banana and light caramel syrup
    Hops-Saaz and Hallertau
    Grains-Pilsner and Vienna malts
    IBU-31
    ABV-9.2%
Overall impression-good/fond memories from my last one probably a decade ago
Ymm, Beer rating-mid/upper cat 2; certainly a notch below other US tripels like Allagash, Pisgah and Hardywood and in the New Belgium and Golden Monkey range

Trophy Brewing - This is a Movement not a Moment

    Hazy IPA

Local to most folks on Ymm, Beer, From dd on a trade

Didn't know what to expect from this since the can says nothing about what it is and a quick search on Google gave me nothing beer related.

Must admit, it's pretty tasty. After all the fruit beers I''ve had recently it was kind of refreshing to get back to a little bitter IPA. Just a little bitter better.

Finished it off and kind of wished I had another, so it must've been good.

Cat 2 in a crowded field! Cool artwork on the can.

Yea, Trophy usually is pretty sparse on their info on the labels.

Glad you liked it. Fuse and I had a flight there a bout a year ago, IIRC, and thought their quality had slipped a bit. I'm really curious to try this one, hoping they've improved.

    Durham is local.

    Credit-a fuse gift; much obliged!!
    Style-autumn lager
Format-a 12 ounce aluminum tree is gone
Appearance-clean/clear, light amber; modest, frothy head
    Nose-toasted bread
Mouthfeel-far better than a pile of leaves
Tastes-wheat bread, light caramel candy, mild earthy hops and a hint of toffee
    Grain-100% NC grains (not named)
    IBU-30 max
    ABV-6.1%
Overall impression-very good quality stuff for an "unexciting" style; can't think of a Fullsteam beer I've not liked a lot
Ymm, Beer rating-upper cat 2; would pair well with grilled fare

Well folks, I’m here for the relationships, not the forum.

While I won’t condone what was done, I’d rather be someplace where I can continue the conversation including mattman91.

Not goodbye per se. I will be taking my beer musings to crazietalk.net .

I hope to see the folks that make this the best thread on DBR will consider the same.

See you on the other side.

    Skol! 🍻

I’ll keep playing. Head-first, as it were. This has been laying down in storage for a good long time. And it has aged wonderfully. Mellowed a lot. The flavors are still complex, but way less harsh. An absolutely terrific imperial stout. High Cat 3 ... if that’s still a thing. Patience has been rewarded.

Hi Wire Brewing - Hazy and Juicy and Hoppy and Fresh ?

    7.5%
    20IBU

    Double Dry Hopped NEIPA

Another good IPA. Not quite as tasty as the one last night from Trophy but still pretty tasty.

I believe this one was a trader from devildeac. Might be the one from Mattman. Can't remember exactly.

    I'd say it's a solid Cat 2 in a very crowded field.

I quite like Hi-Wire IPA’s. I wouldn’t walk over a Bed of Nails for one <ahem>, but they’re quite good.

    Hmmm...

I think I have 1 regular Abyss left and maybe two of each variants, Scotch barrel and ? brandy barrel.
