Yep: friends, fellowship, food, fine foods and sometimes fabulous ales.

Very solid, but I'm not sure this is better than the Oskar Blues One-y. It is close!
I may think for days and still not come up with an answer for this one.

DFH Slightly Mighty IPA is good, if a little sweet.

I don’t think many goses list calories, by style they tend to be under 4% ABV, I’d extrapolate they’d be among my favorite low calorie beers.

Well, when I'm at a loss for an answer, I go find a list :

    https://www.healthline.com/nutrition...ie-beer#stouts

I'm not sure I've ever had more than one or two of those. And, some of those at the end of the list ain't exactly "low calorie."

I was (pleasantly) surprised to learn today that SoPines Man of Law (IPA) and Malty By Nature (Scotch ale) have substantially improved in quality, at least on draft. Both were quite good, and I was sorta “meh” about them previously.
"Amazing what a minute can do."

I haven't had either one of those for several years based on your reviews and my tastings. Happy to know they're both better now.

Not sure I’d buy them in cans, but I won’t hesitate to get them on draft (especially if the next best choice is, say, Sweetwater).

Good point about the draft vs cans. Can't think of the last time I had a Sweetwater product. (No, it was *not* at 420 today or any day for quite a few years .)

Featured brewery at Bottle Rev tomorrow for discounted growlers, any size; priced accordingly. First beer listed:

8% ABV Heist Brewery Charlotte, NC Double IPA, brewed with oat milk and Mosaic hops, double dry hopped with Citra and Motueka.

    Amusing.

Local? Damn right, but, it's a sour so it's Belgian styled and inspired

Credit-brewery reputation, theme for the pub and $10 for a mini growler, so less than $3.50 for a tulip of really good beer
Format-32 ounce swing top container divided over three nights
    Style-mezcal barrel aged sour
    Stemware-Gouden Carolus chalice
Appearance-light goldish yellow; thin, fizzy head
    Nose-lemon/limeade; hint of agave/mezcal
    Mouthfeel-bubbly
Tastes-lemon, lime, moderate tartness with a hint of smoke and tequila
    IBU-likely <10
    ABV-4.8%
Overall impression-an excellent sour that was not overpowered by the barrel aging
Ymm, Beer rating-low cat 3; another high quality product from BB
Our Robinhood Road Lowe's had this on draft for the same low rate deal you found. I got a 32 ounce growler and tried it last night.

Your beer reads very tasty. I think I got a bad batch. Mine had a skunky aroma that was off-putting. I think I'll try getting it in crowlers from now on - not sure if that makes any difference.

Prior to this, I didn't even know what mezcal was. It's pretty cool to try a mezcal-barrel-aged sour. It sounds like it's like a more pure tequila distilled from agave. I agree with you - it's a fun creation with light smoke (not overpowering), hint of tequila that gets more fun as it warms, and tastes of lemon, lime, and salt. The tartness is good and light, not mouth-puckering at all.

I wanted it to taste something like a great margarita sour like some of those awesome goses we tried from Noda. Mine did not because that strong skunky aroma ruined this beer. So mine was low Category 2, but certainly just not the same beer you tasted.

Oooh, sorry to read this. Not sure if it'd be worth it but you might wanna let that Lowe's know your tasting. Might make no difference, might get a different beer to "replace" it.

For those keeping score on closures:

    http://www.wral.com/trophy-tap-and-t...iled/19114452/

Note several other Trophy locations remain in business.

Had a few great meals and beer at the former Busy Bee location.

Surprising/not surprising as 3 venues in the same town is kinda tough. I'm encouraged they're looking at a new concept.
