    Wise Man Chosen Vehicle Citra

    A brilliant, juicy, hoppy beer.

So, so spoiled. I wanted to be just blown away, and the world is awash in such great beer that Chosen Vehicle hits the spot without dropping your jaw.

Loads of citrus with just a bit of a bite.

As a side note, for those in Winston Salem, it appears Wise Man will deliver to local zip codes.

    Cheers! 🍻

    Ever had this one?

    Back to RVA today!

Reminder to everyone to pick up an Irish Red or maybe an Irish Stout or two for next Saturday’s Virtual Pub. I’ve got some researching/shopping to do myself!

I think I missed the boat on this one; was on my list to try and never got around to finding any.

    Sounds delicious!

Blind luck on my part; it was part of my animal-themed (that we discussed briefly via text ) birthday 6er from our part-time nurse.

    Wicked Weed La Bontè Pear

Hard to remain pure, especially when you see a Brett farmhouse ale available from the Funkatorium series. From the brewer:

La Bonté is open fermented with our house Brettanomyces strains. The beer is then blended with a portion of Blonde Sour and onto a half pound per gallon of French Pears. Then we age the beer in bottles until it reaches perfection.
Really nice pucker on this gold-colored beer. The pear flavors are pretty subtle. Fairly smooth, too, and quaffable at 5.5% ABV. Worth “selling out” for.

I started with Thrilling Daydreams - DIPA - 7.7%, 91 IBU (Nahh it went down smooth and fast) - Mosaic, Citra, & Sultana

Website tells me it starts juicy cantaloupe and dried mango. Melon aroma and taste balanced with fresh hops. I don't know, I was enjoying strong Cat 2 NEIPA and even better company.

    Cheers!

Glad we were able to meet up! A very tasty berliner weisse for sure, refreshing on such a humid day. The Vienna Lager was also top notch. WM never disappoints. Looking forward to hanging out with you and beergoddess more often once we are living in the same area code.

I *think* (always a dangerous activity ☺️) mattman traded one of these with me several years ago and my fuzzy recollection is that it was quite good. I’ll try a bit of searching later tonight or tomorrow.

To borrow a phrase from fuse, a "fun beer."

Great label design, interesting name, tasty style, a gift from August West (thanks!) and More Cowbell printed around the top of the 12 ounce can.

It's a chocolate milk stout and and I can (pun intended) almost taste the milk in it . Pour was a bit thin with a small mocha head. Baker's chocolate aromas permeated the nares and flavors of sweet, dark chocolate milk and cocoa tickled the palate along with just a hint of coffee. They claim IBUs at 30 and ABV is 6% (website) or 6.1% (label). This would be an interesting base for a beer float, either with a scoop of vanilla or coffee ice cream. Ingredients:

Malts: 2-Row Pale, Flaked Oat, Crystal 85,Chocolate, DH Carafa III, Roasted Barley

    Hops: Nugget, Willamette

Other: Olive & Sinclair Cocoa Nibs, Cocoa Shells, Lactose

Partial payment from over the weekend as we cared for the grandkiddies. Now available in 12 ounce cans but still no cowbell . I don't think much has changed in the recipe. Really does taste like a chocolate-flavored milk stout, or should that be a (dark) chocolate milk that happens to be a stout. If I ever have another one of these, I'd almost insist that it be served with a long-handled spoon, a straw and a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream.

    Style-flavored milk stout
    Format-12 ounce can
Glassware-why, a Terrapin pint glass, of course
    Appearance-dark brown; moderate tan head
    Nose-dark chocolate milkshake
    Mouthfeel-sMOOth
Taste-a cold cocoa; maybe some caramel
    Adjuncts-lactose and cocoa nibs
    IBU-maybe 40?
    ABV-6%
    Overall impression-still a fun beer
Ymm, Beer rating-mid cat 2; staying true to my word, the beer float review will follow tomorrow

So after a weeks worth of testing, I now can officially claim that Parkway Brewing is my favorite brewery in the Roanoke Valley. Followed very closely by Twin Creeks and then Big Lick.

    For now...

    But...

More testing shall be done! I will not rest until a proven, without a doubt, winner has been crowned.

Now back to my RVA brews for a couple weeks!!

I have another interview lined up for Wednesday in Winston. I'll try and snag a 4 pack of this if it is available.
