Yes, he was. Such is his status on campus that people were actually taking it seriously. At Spartan home football games, the biggest ovation is usually the sight of Izzo standing on the sideline. Izzo is a huge football guy (as you can sometimes tell from watching his teams/practices) and has mentioned that he might want to be Mariucci (his childhood best friend)'s assistant someday when he'd done with hoops.
