    Oh, this is sad

    I'm not sure if her books were required reading in other parts of the country than the south, but very formative, growing up in NC.

    I gave my dad a first edition of To Kill a Mockingbird a couple holidays ago; he loves the book and, as he was an attorney, I always had a (admittedly) romanticized image of him as a modern Atticus Finch.
