I see that the people laying the sod aren't Carolina grads. Otherwise, half of the pieces would be brown side up.

That and the sod would have been laid in an argyle pattern.

Nice! Love how the blue seats look too! Are there any plans to paint the gray bleachers blue or something? The gray on tan background really looks quite crap.

There are plans to add more blue seats on the other side of the stadium, though that may not happen until after the construction on the tower is finished. I don't think there are plans to replace the bleachers in the other sections, though it would be nice to replace them with bleachers like the blue-gray ones in Koskinen.

I'm worried about the time factor of the new sod establishing a firm root base into the existing ground. The Steelers re-sod 2-3 times each year, after they do this the footing is terrible.

It can be a problem, but I think with more than seven weeks between the laying of sod and the first game, that's plenty of time. The Wade field gets very little work in preseason -- normally the team might scrimmage there twice in preseason.

Barring some unforeseen problem, the field should be fine by NC Central on Sept. 12th (the home opener).

In the Durham climate in July and August, the sod will root before the 1st game without any problem. Pittsburgh in the fall is a whole different scenario.

Heinz Field also has two home teams, and hosts high school games, or at least the championships, so a lot more action. Plus, it's in Pittsburgh, as you mentioned.

Doesn't Pit. Play there too? At least, I though we played them there last year?

If you fill those seats up with Duke fans, the color of them will be mostly immaterial.

As a golfer, I prefer Carl Spackler Bent. It's a hybrid of Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensemilia

    What surrounds the grass?

Does anyone know what will go around the grass? In the current blue area?
