    Shakespeare Said it Better

Learning my lines for an upcoming production of Pericles.

One of them is as follows, "if a king bid a man be a villain, he is bound by his indenture to his oath to be one." In other words, "I was just following orders."

Shakespeare said it better. You got one?

Fascinating documentary. Also, didn't Billy S. come up somewhere with the original, "Go to Hell carholeina" cheer?
Nothing incites bodily violence quicker than a Duke fan turning in your direction and saying 'scoreboard.'

"America is all about speed. Hot, nasty, badass speed."

    -Bill Shakespeare.

ETA: oops, apparently, that was Eleanor Roosevelt. Kind of embarrassing.

I'm paraphrasing, but I think it's obvious what he meant.

Paraphasing Dick the Butcher from Henry VI, Part II. Alas, Dick the Butcher was a bit of a lying, cheat himself.

"There are more things in Heaven and on Earth, dear Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

Useful in conversations with sports fans who are skeptical of the usefulness of non-traditional metrics.

Especially useful in conversations with audiophiles who believe that measurements are the only thing that matters, and that two pieces of gear that measure identically must sound identical.

"Cry 'Havoc!' and let slip the litigators."

Paraphrase from Act 3 of "julius Caesar." Useful when state governments foolishly try to infringe on rights protected by the Federal Constitution.

    "Not a 'hole
But felt a fever of the mad and played
Some tricks of desperation. All but walkons
Ran in the darkened tunnel and left Cameron
Then all afire with me. The king’s son, Ol' Roy,
With hair up-staring—then, like reeds, not hair—
Was the first man that leaped, cried, “Hell is empty
And all the devils are here!”
