I liked it. To me the recurring characteristic of Saul was self-destruction. He always found the way to harm himself. Even in the end, when he had done the impossible and gotten a sentence and location where he could have done his time easily, he couldn't resist screwing that up as well. That he did it by "breaking good," doesn't matter. Also, the fact that in prison, he will always be Saul is wonderful. And it also means it's likely nothing really bad would happen to him there, as the inmates would protect someone who was always working for them.
