The best highlight on this tape in the kid's humility. There is zero celebration after every play he makes, it's turn and get back down the court or look for the outlet. Two thumbs up on a kid like that. He certainly appears to have a nice foundation to build on and great blood lines of course.
Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things. - Winston Churchill

Not sure if Duke is or will be recruiting him but Connor Vanover (who is at the USA U16 tryout right now) is listed at 7'3" after his freshman year of high school. One of the surprising things about him other than his height is that if you pull up a highlight video of him, a lot of it is him draining threes.

Not sure if Duke will pursue him or not but he will definitely be an interesting prospect to watch develop over the next few years. If he has stopped growing, three more years of high school should give him opportunity to fill out his frame and get stronger. If he hasn't stopped growing well that could be interesting too.
Yep, he's just a frosh:

Does anyone have insight into why Bagley (and perhaps more interestingly, Troy Brown in 2017) didn't make the cut to 17 players for the U16 USA team? Other 2018 players did make that cut (including one Tre Jones).
Oh, apparently, the U16 national team has now been cut down to 12: http://www.usab.com/mens/u16/roster.aspx
Congrats to Tre Jones (and the other 2018 guys - Javonte Smart, Connor Vanover, Robert Woodard, Jordan Brown) who made the team! From 2017, Duke targets Wendell Carter, Jarred Vanderbilt and Gary Trent Jr. made the roster.

Not sure about Bagley, but according to Brown in the following DraftExpress interview, his school gets out late and the trip would conflict with his exams: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDlvnOg17Cs
Well-spoken, conscientious kid. Very Duke-like replies in that interview.
Has K ever offered a freshman before or is this the first time?

Edit..maybe I should rephrase to "has K offered anyone yet to play their sophomore season", since his freshman days are quickly numbered.
Q "Why do you like Duke, you didn't even go there." A "Because my art school didn't have a basketball team."
Demarcus Nelson, received and accepted an offer his sophmore year. At the time I believe he was the youngest ever to accept an offer from Duke.

To paraphrase Bob Knight after watching 14 year old Damon Bailey play
Marvin is better than any forward we have right now. I don’t mean potentially better, I mean better today.
Lot of years to imagine how good he could be. Based on the one YouTube video I watched- the kid is pretty coordinated and looks to have a mid range game. I can see why they offered. No question he will be among the best of his year.
ESPN has put out its first ESPN 25 for the Class of 2018: http://espn.go.com/college-sports/ba.../_/class/2018/
Of note, Marvin Bagley III is ranked #1. Tre Jones is not ranked.
On the USA U16 website, the bios for each of the players on the team lists their favorite basketball team. Most listed a pro team. Tre Jones listed Duke. I looked at the bios before the final U16 cut from 17 to 12 players, and there was another 2018 player who doesn't appear to have made the final cut (because I can't find it now, so can't confirm the identity for sure) but who also listed Duke as his favorite basketball team. I believe it was Cart'Are Gordon, ranked #20 on ESPN's list. Don't ask me to pronounce it, but I look forward to seeing DBR posters try to spell it for the next few years. And apologies to Cart'Are if my memory is off.
