You can tell I like Titus's views on Laettner, as it's been in my sig since that column was written.
I agree with liking Grantland, in particular Zach Lowe who I assume watches about 30 hours of basketball a day - it's the only possible way he could write so intelligently on what so many teams are doing. He has a true eye for the game. I roll my eyes every time there's a reference to Duke, because I assume it will be unfavorable (Titus is actually more even-handed in this regard than Shane Ryan, a Duke alum and another Grantland contributor who, in my view, writes about Duke like he needs to apologize that's where he went to school), but that doesn't interfere with my enjoyment of the content on the site.
There is a decided difference between their "analysis" columns - guys like Lowe, Kirk Goldsberry (love the graphical statistical shooting depictions), Jonah Keri and Rany Jazyerli for baseball, and Bill Barnwell for football - and their "fan" columns - I put Titus here along with Simmons himself, Holly Anderson for college football, Andrew Sharp, etc. The former are almost always great, while the latter are often hit and miss (and the snide comments about Duke are almost always reserved for the latter).
Just be you. You is enough. - K, 4/5/10, 0:13.8 to play, 60-59 Duke.
You're all jealous hypocrites. - Titus on Laettner
You see those guys? Animals. They're animals. - SIU Coach Chris Lowery, on Duke
