With the start of the NBA season tonight, does anyone know how many former Duke players are on NBA rosters?

This ESPN page shows 18 Duke players currently on NBA rosters

For comparative purposes, they list Kentucky as having 20 players and UNC with 17. Feel free to search for any other school you choose

Last year I used a nifty "Blue Devils in the NBA" app I found in the Android store that updated every day with stats. It was quick to add Lance to the list once he got picked up. I presume I will use the same app this year. For those looking for it, its icon is a generic looking basketball.

I'll say 19. I consider Elliot Williams with Portland a former Blue Devil since he played more games with Duke than he did with Memphis.

Don't know if y'all saw this WSJ article, but apparently Duke players in the NBA logged more minutes than those of any other college program, by a wide margin.

In the second link, a recent piece by Chad Ford and Jay Bilas, is a discussion about who develops players best for the NBA. Essentially Bilas argues that college coaches only RECRUIT talented players, and generally don't really "develop" them, per se. Ford has some great thoughts about which programs run systems that seem to display the NBA-type talents of their guys, such as KA, KY and Duke. He singles out UNC as a program that, while they get great talent, actually do a very poor job of developing/showcasing it. Ford also points out K's strong ability to adapt his system to the individual strengths of his players. Not anything that most of us weren't already aware of!!
