    So Long, Coach Gabs

Lacrosse Magazine is reporting that Duke men's lax assistant coach Chris Gabrielli has accepted the head coaching position at Providence.

The Friars were 2-12 last season, 1-5 in the Big East.

As defensive coordinator, Coach Gabs has played a major role in Duke's success during his six years in Durham. I have no doubt that he will get the PC program turned around.

Best of luck, Coach. We'll miss you.

Had the privilege of playing with Gabs at a Duke lacrosse camp a few years back. Great coach and person. Will be missed but is very deserving of a head coaching job. Danowski's coaching tree gets bigger!

Inside Lacrosse is now reporting that John Galloway will go with Gabrielli to Providence, as defensive coordinator. Obviously a great opportunity with a developing program for a coach with only one year of experience, but a loss for Duke. Hopefully Coach Danowski is already well into the process of restocking his defensive staff with talented new coaches. http://insidelacrosse.com/news/2012/...ant-providence
