This is an awesome way to run minor leagues, etc. -- I'm going to date myself here, but when I lived in London, Watford was a D-IV team that had just moved to D-III.

They made the FA Cup Semis -- a bigger cinderella story than Butler ever would be.

It was really cool to see them in Premier league when games started broadcasting stateside.

Can you imagine a world where the Austin Toros became an NBA team - and the Nets became a D-League team?

Of course, for this to work, salary structures would have to change - and the Players Association would never come CLOSE to allowing the kind of changes necessary to make it happen. And not that the league would want it to happen.

Talk about coaching pressure. Coming in last could literally cost the owner hundreds of millions of dollars of net worth.
