I'm 28 and I know all about him. Very flamboyant and seemingly likes to make calls for show... quick with the technical fouls. I'm not sure I see his presence as specifically being bad for Duke. He's just a bit of a loose canon.

Mmmmm... maybe Huggie can get a technical for unsportsmanlike attire.

At least it's not Lenny Wirtz.

He was the Tar Heels' sixth man on the floor.

At least it's not Karl Hess. I don't recognize the final four refs except Les Jones and Jamie Luckey.

Nope, Valentine is only doing the title game so won't be seeing Huggie.

Horse, meet cart. I'm praying we will have the opportunity to be in a game Valentine refs.

    I love the internets.

Valentine has been a fixture in Final Fours for a while. He reffed Duke's 1991 and 1992 semifinal wins over UNLV and Indiana.

This is actually great news for all four teams. There's not an ounce of dead wood on that list.

Isn't Curtis Shaw the guy that stared down John Wall when wall complained (try to stay away from team-liking bias here). He's quite the hothead/quick whistle. I believe the head of NCAA officials also had to pay him a visit at half-time to discuss his officiating.

Duke has no say in who officiates. We just need to take care of business, hit shots, rebound and play lock-down defense.

I'm almost giddy at the chance to go to the champ. game, and have a chance to bring home #4. We would be ecstatic, carolina and uk fans (or anyone who hates Duke) would be pissed..love that, and ill get to see one of my favorite Duke teams win it all

Except for the twelve pounds sitting on Jamie Luckie's shoulders.

Sorry to be slow. Is there a joke there that I'm not seeing, or are you simply disagreeing with my assessment of Luckie? Fine by me either way, just asking...

I do believe that a tightly called game would be in Duke's favor.

Expect Ted Valentine to ream Duke if we get the the final game.

IIRC, the games he refed for Duke this year were atrociously one sided against Duke.

WVU plays defense like a more athletic Purdue. If that game was called tightly, we would have been in the double bonus about 4 minutes into each half, given how grabby and hands on the players were on the perimeter.
