Question about Duke's record for 287 wins this decade

Just passing time until the games begin:

The Blue Devils have won 287 games this decade (2000-09), the most wins in a decade by the program. The win total is an NCAA record for the most wins by a program in a decade, as they passed Kansas (286-60 from 1990-99).

Will Duke's wins next fall (November and December) be added into this record since it's still 2009?

I think you should conduct a campaign to count them, and please ignore the ankle-biters who want to subtract the wins from November and December, 1999.

Depends on how you define the season. Is this the 2008/2009 season, or the 2009 season (which happens to have games in 2008)? That would affect whether or not they counted the wins in November and December of 1999 in the 1999/2000 season.

...so, if you are counting 1999-2000 as the first season of the decade , then 2008-09 would be the 10th and last.

    Nice try, though.

Yeah, I added them up myself. They're counting all wins from 1999-2000, so they couldn't count the 2009 wins for next season without subtracting the 1999 wins from the first season. We lost our first two games to Stanford and UConn at MSG in 1999, then rattled off 8 wins to close the year. So unless we win more than 8 before the start of 2010 next year, we might not want to do that.

This record should be with a * however because, as you well remember, this was when we got all the calls. Oh, wait a minute, we still do.
