  1. NCAA Refs and making the "tough call"

    Has anyone else noticed a pattern of the refs in too many games being apparently afraid to blow a whistle in the last minutes of a game?

    Case in point: the glaringly obvious goal-tend in last night's game and the missed travelling call in the last 1:00 of the Maryland game.

    Its not exclusive to ACC games either. Saw it in the Wisconsin/ Ohio State too. What do you think? Are they given a directive NOT to blow the whistle in high profile games?

    By not wanting to be the deciding factor in games, they (the refs) often become that factor. This happens at the end of games and also IMO changes the style of officiating in tourney games. These are for the most part smart people--they realize what is happening but
