Jeff Mullins had his jersey retired on December 6. 1 of 2 Vic Bubas era players to have their jersey's hanging in the rafters.Only reason I remember December 6 is my birthday.

Wow that is so fun to watch. And what an early ACC game to boot.
Q "Why do you like Duke, you didn't even go there." A "Because my art school didn't have a basketball team."

I was there too. I have some cool videos taken from my camera phone on the court after we "rushed" the court. I put that in quotes because, to me, it felt like I fell onto the court after about 12 other people fell on top of me. Awesome game.

Check out this vid of the shot taken from the student section: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FP-oPOyv0wo

By the way, I nominate this play as Josh McRobert's greatest contribution to Duke (other than his hot mom, of course).

That VT dude in the video looked so confused and miserable that I even feel sorry for him...

That was my 3 year old's first Duke basketball game! He was 3 months old -- I'll never forget it!

I remember listening to the radio show in the car after the game (I was there - the only Duke game I got to go to that year). Dockery said something to the effect of, (not an exact quote) any shot like that has an element of luck to it, but we practice those kind of situations regularly. I knew exactly how much time there was and what I could and couldn't do. Then Bob Harris aksed, how often do you actually make that in practice? Dockery just laughed.

I was in my first year of PA school and that was my first ACC game as a Cameron Crazy. I was with my classmates in the graduate student section, we looked at each other and just knew we were going to lose the game. When the shot dropped, we were jumping up and down and screaming for what felt like 5 minutes straight. What an amazing experience!

That game foreshadowed some trouble that team was going to have later on.

  16. As far as Duke buzzer beaters go, that comes to mind nearly as quickly as does Laettner's and Capel's shots.

Those three are tops, but Christians shot was the greatest in all sports. Nothing can ever replace that shot in my memory. Go Duke!

I remember seeing this video kinda soon after the game after you posted it. I remember laughing, what with all that commotion going on. I just watched it again, and laughed again, thinking, that's the same laugh I had a few years ago. Great memories...
