    A name from the past

"DALLAS (FWAA) - Texas Tech strong safety Daniel Charbonnet has been named the FWAA/Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week for games of the weekend of Nov. 1.

Charbonnet, a 5-11, 188-pound senior from the The Woodlands, Texas, was the defensive star of Texas Tech's 39-33 upset victory of then top-ranked Texas in Lubbock.

Charbonnet made four tackles, including one for loss, forced and recovered a fumble, broke up one pass and an intercepted a pass. He returned the interception 18 yards for a touchdown to help the Red Raiders improve to 9-0 and snap a 5-game losing streak to the Longhorns.

Charbonnet will be added to the 2008 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy will be presented to the best defensive player in college football on Dec. 7 by the FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club at the Westin Hotel in Charlotte, N.C. Five finalists for the Nagurski Trophy will be announced on Nov. 17."
