If only Novak had shown courage after recently striking a pedestrian with his Corvette, rather than claiming he never saw the guy even though eyewitness accounts said the pedestrian was splayed across his windshield.
Never thought I'd type those words...given Novak's "Terpitude". Very sad that he's ill but I admire his courage in pursuing this treatment option.

Agree completely and was appalled at the time. However, after the diagnosis of his brain tumor, a brain lesion specialist was quoted as saying that Novak's not "seeing" the guy should have been a clue for a complete neuro workup.
Apparently, that's SOP in hospitals in similar accident circumstances. Since Novak was himself not injured, an opportunity to catch this earlier was missed. Thank goodness the pedestrian was not badly injured. Also, after reading the doctor's comments, I did wonder if there were signs of his illness that Novak had ignored.
Am I the only person who saw this thread title and started trying to figure out if Novak was a Duke recruit?
FWIW, not a big fan of the man but I wouldn't wish this on anyone.
This is pretty tacky, and also pretty uninformed given the discovery of the brain tumor as a result of the accident. I've known far too many people that died of these tumors, including my uncle. Over half of them (3 out of 5) discovered the tumors as a result of car crashes where they didn't see plainly obvious things. Remember, the brain tumor can completely block the brain's processing of things the eye sees, so you could be looking right at a tree, and walk into it because you didn't "see" it.
The fact that Novak was tested for and then diagnosed with a brain tumor is clear evidence he didn't "see" the guy, even on his windshield.
Then perhaps this explains his entire journalistic "career".
Sometimes charity and compassion are trumped by ideology.

Absolutely correct. My father died of a brain tumor and it was indeed diagnosed after a car accident. He didn't hurt anyone, thank God.
I think this thread should be zipped.
Did not realize the tumor may have directly caused the accident so my apologies for being tacky and uninformed.
Then in the future (hopefully), perhaps people will keep their NON-basketball related posts off of this board, where they do NOT belong. Put this stuff on the off-topic or public policy boards.
And while we're on the subject of being unforgiving, I'd love to see the posts if the subject had been Bill or Hillary Clinton instead of Novak. If you don't think THAT would be an unforgiving thread, you are not in touch with reality.
Mods, PLEASE move or lock this thing. I don't come here to read about Robert Novak, I come here to read about BASKETBALL.
I think Duke-related issues, especially ones mentioned by DBR's front page are filed under the main board.
Classic.
Make political comments on the thread. Then, step up the comments to the really inappropriate level, calling Novak a "scumbag".
When posters object, complain that the thread doesn't belong here and throw in some irrelevant comment about how the Clintons would be trashed.
When asked, refuse to apologize.
Continue your tantrum. I'm done on this thread.
