But...I'm about 40 and finally starting to understand the conflict between nostalgia and cultural norms a lot more. I've been driving by SOTB for 20+ years now on the way to my parents' house south of Myrtle. I always recognized it as a ridiculous stereotype, particularly after I read about the ownership history, but 1) it always served as a portal to the fun, carefree times at the beach, and 2) I have a HUGE soft spot for dumb roadside Americana.
