It is just a lovely morning in the bundaberg neck of the woods. Been on a nice walk about with the toddler, sipping coffee and saying “no, yucky” every time he tries to eat something.

A pleasant morning in our small town. The firetrucks leading kiddos on decorated bikes will be coming along any moment now.
Crabcakes on the menu for this evening, and trying to keep the dog reasonably settled through all the booms and bangs.

Usual five mile amble with the wife and dog, punctuated with a very large black bear popping out of the woods right in front of us...startling for all of us, but he toddled away nicely.
Rain here, not constant but enough to dissuade one from outdoor activity.
Since we were on a road, the dog pulled at the leash but was under control. She's seen bears when she's been off leash in the woods, and she has a good habit of stopping and assessing, without advancing. (She does that with other dogs and people she doesn't know whom we meet in the woods...a very good habit). Today she just hopped around on the leash until the bear ambled away...then she enjoyed the wonderful smells a large beast leaves behind.
I make a mean homemade lemonade with mint from the garden.
I make a mean bourbon, neat.
God Bless America!
One of our neighbors getting a head start on the evening's fireworks. Doggo hiding in basement.
Happy - and safe - 4th everyone!
