I'm a heresay kind of guy.
Or is it "heresy?"

I think the museum in Paris is spelled Looooovra...for Americans, anyway...
p.s. tip o' the day, if you don't mind cool weather: visit Paris in February...we've done it three times, no jousting with tour groups to see stuff in the various museums...going to the d'Orsay one day we couldn't find the entrance at first because there wasn't a single person on line ahead of us...
If I were going to steal some art, it would be a Vermeer, although Renoir's "The Boating Party" is something I would love to have in my home so I could look at it every day. It's too big to steal without a lot of careful planning though. Its permanent home is in DC. When I start spending more time there, I'm going to become a member of the Phillips Museum so I can go look at it anytime I feel like it.
This photo does NOT do it justice. https://www.phillipscollection.org/c.../boating-party
One of my favorite movie genres is a heist movie. I love those get the gang together and work out a complicated plan to steal something films.
Anybody here have a favorite heist movie? An oldie but a goodie - Hot Rocks from the 70s.
Ocean's 11 (2001) is what I use to judge heist films.
Braves baseball Friday.
NBA next week.
I'm so happy. It's happening. Sports.
Yes, well, what isn't odd right now?

Thank you kindly! (Photo is an approximation )
Well, this is very close to what I look like with stage makeup on, so,

For heist films, not the best but — I’ll give a plug for A Fish Called Wanda and the Pink Panther.
Oh, and The Usual Suspects to the extent it may fit in.
Well, since we are posting pictures of ourselves:

We ought to be able to make this happen.
What do you want to steal?
Hmmm, is National Treasure a heist film?
Discuss.
Let’s start with this.

Ahh, The Maguc Bus. That's where it went.
I was thinking more along the lines of Jane Austen's writing desk from the British Library, but, OK.
You know what we need next, don't you?
Our plant on the inside.
Good Morning!
Hoping for good news at 3pm today.

Muppet jokes? I got 'em.
Is it true that it even rains inside in Seattle?
I've only been to Seattle once. It was in October. It was lovely.
The one time I have visited Seattle was on my honeymoon in late June. I'll always remember rolling over on our first morning in the city, checking the weather forecast and seeing that it included an "EXTREME HEAT ADVISORY," and then finding that said prediction was based on forecast high temps in the mid-80s, with 50ish percent humidity. Our Georgian hearts laughed and enjoyed a lovely couple of days to finish out our adventure.
I went with the hubby to a conference (long time ago now) in Munich, Germany. They were suffering one of their worst heat waves ever, more than a week straight of temperatures over 85. The Germans were all miserable. Ron and I came up with a decent response, I think, "Now do you understand why Americans like ice in their drinks?" ;)
Or really - October anywhere! (Except Vermont.)
October in Vermont is beautiful, don't get me wrong, but that's when everybody else goes to Vermont.
Right, budworm?
I went to the British Virgin Islands in October once. It's their "off season" because that's the one time of the year when the winds die down and the mosquitoes breed. Put on some bug spray and have Virgin Gorda to yourself? Yes, please. (We stayed on Great Camanoe, looking down on Marina Key, but took the boat over to Virgin Gorda one day while we were there.)
I went to Seattle once, in 1989, for some sort of basketball tournament. Don’t remember much about that trip. Wasn’t fun.
I've been to Seattle in all kinds of weather. Lived there for a bit. Would love to spend summers there.
I contiue to cheat on my screen time timers...
Not really - keep cheating!
Pretty noisy storms rolled through last night.
We got a bit of rain last night. We needed it.
Vandy named their Covid-19 tracking effort the Public Health Unified Command Center or PHUCC for short.
After a coulle days they adjusted it to PHCC. Juvenile me got quite a few laughs out of the whole thing.
I just got a chuckle out of it too.
It's raining here right now although I don't think it's supposed to last all day.
Day starts with a truck tow. Huzzah.
Sweet! In 90+ degree weather, too? ^^^
Yahtzee!
We need rain BADLY here in Durham. Another 108 heat index day.
Apparently, we are still in a drought up here, despite a lot of rain lately. A lot.
The world is ending!!!!!!
I was just trying to give Ymo a valid excuse for exceeding his screen time limits.
We're spending a week at Lewes, DE and I must compliment the people wearing masks outside, easy bike ride down to Rehoboth yesterday to say hello to some old neighbors of ours. Several people on the bike trail we're masked up. I was happy to mask up on the boardwalk.
Back to back to back to back conference calls...
cutting and removing brush, two large dead trees, nasty sweaty. I remember when GW Bush used to go to his ranch each weekend and "cut brush." GWB and I both cut brush!
I never joined his fan club either, but the brush cutting is cathartic as you say, especially when you sit back and regard your accomplishments. These are finishing touches following The Great Tree Debacle of Halloween, 2017, in which approximately 150 pine trees, all 65 feet or so tall, broke off or were uprooted, including 50 or so across our driveway. The president of the state's largest electric utility even stopped by to regard the carnage (we had no power for five days). It's windy in our area!
Problem with conference calls during lunch: right as we reached the one moment where I needed to speak, I choked on Chex Mix. Luckily, I had not, yet, hit the unmute button.
Plans have been made. Friday will be another installment of the Quarantine Adventures of T-Bone and The Drewsk. T-Bone holds down the fort at home while Mom guest stars in the episode entitled "Mom and The Drewsk drive to Vermont to pick up Paddies". It's a long title.

Zion: Job prospect #2
The Ball: My hopes and dreams
Less confident I'll get the offer from the other one now, but we will see. Back on the job application blitz this evening!
Early flight tomorrow morning. Interested to see what the airport/plane looks like.
Good luck! My husband flew on the Sunday/Tuesday of Memorial Day weekend and found it pleasant and not crowded. He felt relatively safe. He has decided, however, moving forward that he will drive between here and Maryland. He does still need to be in both places fairly regularly. He's been to Maryland twice now since Memorial Day and goes back down there on Saturday.
My work laptop is stuck in a continuous loop.
That doesn't sound like fun.
I can't think of anything to say.
Big rain falling, not good for Mr. Carpenter Man and his trusty saw scheduled to work on our siding!
They keep reducing our rain chances for this weekend.
Saw this and it made me sad. I've never been there, but, still sad.
And then I thought of budworm, so I decided to share.

A sign of the times. A few decades ago, every small town here seemed to have several decent, independently owned markets with owners who knew all the customers. Great places.
The vast majority have been replaced by soulless mini mart gas station chains, with dopey help, no character, and a paucity of fresh food.
Yes, sad.
I'm wondering though, if the pandemic will change some things. I imagine a lot of the old guard places will go out of business, but maybe they will be replaced with something new. I'm hoping so.
I think it is slowly transforming into a brick.
This year's mission trip is something different - didn't want to plan on a trip to another location and some of the youth were just getting to go back to work. So we opted for We Care Wednesdays. We are working locally on 4 successive Wednesdays. The first one, where we were to glean corn, was cancelled due to heavy rains that morning. Yesterday, we had hoped to paint a house - we got about half of it done. Hot and humid made it hard work and it is a very tall house so difficulty in getting all the way to the top.
To be sure! We've lived in the same small town now for 30 years, and basically our township within the town has about 1,500 residents. There are (were) two wee corner stores. The only way one has survived (and the other one survived for 20 years) is through enormous work, and the owners living in apartments above the store. Both stores did that, even with kids in the household.
The owners do 95% of the work themselves, working 12 hours a day, seven days a week. There's just not enough profit to enable hiring people. That's a gargantuan workload, and few are willing to put in that effort. One is still up and running, but the owners are around 60 years old, and they can't do this forever.
The same holds for other markets throughout the state. Some are fortunate and are located in towns with a fair amount of money or tourists (or both), and they can carry fancier stuff at higher margins, as long as there aren't any huge supermarkets nearby. Definitely a vanishing breed.
I've never gleaned corn.
Cheating with the tablet yet again.
Maybe it is time for a PBR?
Some continue to be obsessed...
Sigh, two hour meeting done. Next...
98F right now. And they keep on raising the temps for the weekend. Another degree since this morning. Sigh...
Giving Hamilton another shot.
I still haven't gotten Disney Plus.
How does it work - did you watch it on your computer? I can watch Netflix on my TV through the kids XBOX. I have no idea how it got on there. As I've said before, despite my ability to program in SAS, I am technologically challenged. I'm not a luddite in that I embrace technological advances, I just don't know how to set them up by myself.
I have a Roku device where I can download the app and then access. Newer Smart TVs have the same capability. I'm going to use it until it dies and then switch to using just my TV.

More and more screen time.
EarlJam still lives in the Atlanta area. He got married a couple of years ago and is a stepfather to a couple of kiddos. He and his wife are really into writing and playing music together. I haven’t seen him in a few years, but we’re in touch on Facebook and he seems well.
I either go to bed now or I listen to music for the next couple of hours.
Okay, so I went to bed.
I just ordered a socket set to use with my power tools. Threw my tools in the back of the car for We Care Wednesdays and they came in handy - we took the Dish off the side of the house.
I almost ordered a cordless sander - but not sure if I really "need" one. I think the one I have is corded. Plus, not sure if 1/4 sheet sander or orbital is what I want. Decisions, decisions.
I did really enjoy Hamilton last night.
I see another haircut in my future.
Successful trip up and back to Burlington. Son Paddies has not had a haircut since January. It's actually a bit frightening.
To amuse ourselves on the drive, we were trying to think of
1) 20 movies about bands/recording artists, fictional or biopics. We met the goal.
2) 20 movies with a main character named Jack. Debate ensued as to whether we could count ALL of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and/or ALL of the Jack Ryan movies. We did not reach a consensus (although we did decide that we could at least count one Jack Ryan movie for every actor that has played the part). We did not meet the goal because we moved on to
3) 20 movies set in ancient Rome or ancient Greece. We arrived home before we met the goal.

I remember those days well. DTV somehow got the courts to give them access to a customer list for a particular part I bought online and may or may have not used for questionable purposes (in my defense I continued to pay for their basic cable). Anyway I ended up being one of hundreds (thousands?) sued by DTV. Had to write up and file my own legal motions and it was a stressful year or so. DTV successfully won some individual judgements for tens of thousands they started to wind it down. I called the DTV lawyer to settle and he said $500. I countered with $100 and he instantly agreed. I hung up knowing I had just overpaid. Ironically all this time their customer service was calling me with free upgrade offers and telling me I was one of their best customers. ;)
Fun fact: Alec Baldwin, the original Jack Ryan, has made a movie with every subsequent Jack Ryan (Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, Chris Pine, John Krasinski)... and he has worked with them BEFORE they took on the role, and in that order. In total, I believe there are seven movies with two Jack Ryans.
For a future road trip, try to come up with movies that have two actors or actresses who have played the same character. The best example I can give is Out of Sight, which many people noted at the time had a pair of Batmen: George Clooney and Michael Keaton. A female example is The Help with its two Gwen Stacys: Emma Stone and Bryce Dallas Howard. It's more common than you think, particularly when you factor in Shakespearean roles.
No time like the present?
I did indeed stop at the Vermont Welcome Center 10 miles from the NH border on I-89. Vending machines empty. Orange cones and caution tape set up to guide you, blue masking tape arrows on the floor, no water fountains, it's a one way deal to use the restrooms. I didn't actually use the restrooms, I only stopped to stretch my legs, so, it was a quick walk through the welcome center. I checked out the nearby Vietnam Veterans Memorial too. Then The Drewsk and I got back in the car and headed on up to Burlington. Not many brochures but there were some hunting and fishing guides available.
Wind and rain from Hanna this afternoon/evening into tomorrow. But first, mow the lawn and then Covid cut 6 or 7.
Profanity and nudity in the thread this last week. What has happened?
This thread? Had profanity and nudity? And I somehow missed it? What!?!
Ah, Ok then.
Carry on.
I'm avoiding mowing the lawn...
