Heh heh. There’s a DBR history to be written by someone at some point and it will definitely include the demise of the PPB and the great presidential thread schism.

I’m surprised it hasn’t been locked. Pretty close a few times already.
Whenever stuff like the Northwestern hazing…or the PSU Sandusky…or Nassar…or…or…or, it always makes me wonder how many similar issues are occurring in secret or never got unearthed. My assumption has always been a lot.
Yep. A lot. I suspect the greater number of situations that never come to light though are where the victims are female. Female accusers tend to called liars and are often punished for coming forward. The first Nassar accuser was left off the Olympic team for example despite scoring high enough at the Olympic Trials.
Boa noite!
Yeah. A good female friend of mine is dealing with some realizations that her childhood doctor likely did inappropriate things to her. They’ve always been uncomfortable memories for her but they’ve become more fully formed with talking.
Unfortunately, I suspect it’s everywhere.
On a cheerier note, show pitch: Alone but for white collar accountants with no wilderness experience.
I have a female friend who is Spanish and who lives in a small town near my home Greenville, SC. She has lived there for forty years, but many who meet her think she is Mexican and newly arrived because she retains a strong accent.
On Sunday she requested that I help her with some people who were installing a French drain at her home to address water leaking into her basement. She had been having trouble with the foreman who wouldn't listen to her and was very contentious/argumentative. I went to her home and stayed there the whole day to "help."
What did I do? Nothing, I merely existed as a white American male. I stood nearby when she talked with the workers, made requests and suggestions. The workers were always pleasant and agreeable. No problems. At the end they shook her hand and then came over and shook my hand.
Wow! My friend had explained to me that this wasn't unusual in her world. I was not that surprised, but I was still shocked at the difference my presence seemed to make.
This is disturbing but probably something that happens a lot. Frequently I would go to emergency situations with some of our female physicians when I worked in the hospital and people would frequently start to address me if they didn't know what everyone's job class was. And I would correct that individual is nicely as possible. But then when we would leave I would joke about it with my physician buddies. We always thought it was funny but also annoying. On a moderately related note, this is why my children and I go to Pride marches a lot. At least two or three a year.
I figured they’d be about one episode seasons. 😀
And yeah I’d watch that all day. Here’s “Dave” from KPMG. He hasn’t exercised in 3 years and pounds 7 Red Bulls a day. He loves excel and PowerPoint due to their elegance and inability to talk back. Dave, here’s a bear and giardia. I’m in.
Do you remember the survivalist thread from probably last year? There were a lot of folks on there who talked about what they had stockpiled and they are like investment bankers and accountants. I got some nasty PMs because I told them that I appreciated all the work they were doing but if society broke down then I was the kind of person who would come take their stuff and kill them. People didn't think that was funny. I thought it was funny.
Out of one meeting, into another.
