IMHO, they really need to throw in some fake red food coloring in there. I have no idea what it is supposed to be. Of course, we have the bright red Big Red here in Texas and I've never had a swig.

Neither had my son-in-law (from Michigan, currently lives in Indiana), until I introduced him to it. He now loads up his car with 12 packs of it when he visits us. When we visit them, the first thing he asks is “how much Cheerwine did you bring me?”
(There is a concoction popular in the Gastonia, NC area which is a mixture of Cheerwine and SunDrop which is quite good. I believe some cherries 🍒 might be blended in as well.)

I agree. One of my kids loved it when he was in middle school but the rest of them never really went for that brand of humor. I loved it when I was in middle school too.
