I hate my coworkers. That can be frustrating.

deer munching the young day lilies are unimpressed with my scare technique.
Crispy skin pork shoulder.
Buzzard be cruising.
I fried up the skin and it was delicious!
Took my mother to see my 92-yo godmother (1.5 hours away) at her assisted living facility. First time we've seen her in over 1.5 years. Really good visit.
A Møøse once bit my sister... No realli! She was Karving her initials on the møøse with the sharpened end of an interspace tøøthbrush given her by Svenge - her brother-in-law - an Oslo dentist and star of many Norwegian møvies: "The Høt Hands of an Oslo Dentist", "Fillings of Passion", "The Huge Mølars of Horst Nordfink"...
Tøø right it is.
Jason's podcast got me wondering about a few other Duke players. I knew Andre Dawkins had a podcast; looks like he's also gotten into real estate.
Zoubek got out of the bakery business and is also in real estate --- and in my neck of the woods.
Josh McRoberts just started coaching at his old school.
It's snowing.
Vermont issuing 100 moose hunting permits this Fall, better sign up fast!
Speaking of shoulders, I hate rabbit shoulders in a Quebec restaurant, had never really thought about rabbits having shoulders.
Holly the Dog is back on the job, deer be gone!
p.s. snowing here too, but I'm ignoring it.
Moose don’t need hunting licenses, they’re ornery enough. If they could hunt, they’d definitely just be the type of hunter that sat around in the woods drinking molson’s all day until it go bored and drunk and started shooting anything that moved.
I have been chased down a trail by a moose. A**holes.
somebody was doing something when they drew NC's boundaries...
I'm only on this thread because it seems like the likeliest place to talk about my twin loves of gangster rap and poetry. I don't get to drop as many poetry references as you would think when I speak to doctors but I get to drop more rap lyrics than you might think.
A sorority sister worked in Yellowstone one summer. She told a story about being followed by a moose - there may have been some level of a lack of clothing involved. She said they typically have more moose attacks than bear attacks each year. Guess they relocated to Vermont?
years ago my wife and I went on a tour(our own private tour, no one else involved), the exclusive point of which was to see moose in the wild. We went in fall rutting season, when the moose get randy...we spotted a huge bull moose a safe distance away, he was snorting and carrying on, and only then did we see, emerging from behind a hill which was MUCH closer to us, snorting bull moose number two...we bolted out of there.
One of the main issues with moose is that their eyesight is crappy, so when they're rutting, they don't know or care that you're a human, you're just more competition. A famous moose researcher from Quebec met her demise in just such a fashion.
But he’s not a gangsta poet.
Never watch a movie with Scottish characters with Scottish in-laws.
Vikings?
The Poochie episode is on.
Tonight's reunion event was much better. Also, Google Chrome worked.
They spent half the movie googling all the Scottish and English people (based on real events) and asking one another whether they remembered them. One of them is hard of hearing -and the movie was on - so the exchanges were loud and Scottish. There was a sex scene and father in law yelled, “You’re missing the tits and bums, dear!” to his wife who was in the kitchen. He also burps with his mouth open and every time he does, his wife says “more tea vicker?” They ruined the climax of the movie by asking each other if they remembered x, y and z before x, y, and zed had happened.
My wife is about to lose her mind. Speaking of stereotypes, I think they share a few qualities with the So I Married an Axe Murderer parents.
Who turned off the heat?
I’ve got a triceratops sized pile of mulch to shovel today.

Yikes!
I am meeting another DBR poster for lunch and a beer exchange today. He is in for a real treat, obviously. Aimo, I will let you know if he punches me in the nose so you can send him a gift basket.
Sherlock Hemlock is on the case!

Probably got slightly more than half out, all the front yard is taken care of. Think I'm going to save the backyard for tomorrow and do a few other things today. It is satisfying to see the pile slowly get smaller but boy, it's manual. Usually my wife spreads while I cart but I'm on double duty this year.
When I tell her that, she starts yammering on about gestating a baby and I'm all, "yeah, I gest-ate a sandwich and I'm still working!"
Yep. I shovel into a wheel barrow and then spread by rake in the big spots and by hands in the tight ones. Front yard looks nice. Back yard looms but tomorrow. Now I'm going to go fill a hole in the gap filler in my shed that a mouse burrowed through. Turd.
A few years ago, I was in my front yard watering plants with a garden hose. My neighbor (a great guy) was using your technique for spreading mulch. Suddenly, he came running into my yard yelling "spray me, spray me". At first, I thought he was joking, until he frantically told me that fire ants were in his mulch and had gotten all over him. So, I dutifully sprayed him down while he proceeded to strip down to absolute necessities in my front yard, with other neighbors watching in shock. Took some 'splaining.
So, check your mulch before using this method. Just saying.
I have to use Amdro for fire ant nests a couple times a year.
I have noted that for some time on the Duke campus, seems nice...and then a week or so ago the NY Times had a big article on pine needles becoming a big cash crop in NC...I also prefer the look of hemlock mulch, but hey, if nature is going to drop free mulch all around you, why not use it?
We’re going to try a documentary tonight. See how that goes with the in-laws.

That's some fine Ludacris OPK. Fine Ludacris.

Thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night,
Scourged to his dungeon, but, sustained and soothed
By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave,
Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch
About him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.
So to recap: we have hit Ludacris and William Cullen Bryant this morning.

Sausage egg and cheese biscuit for fortification.
Beautiful morning here. That’s a plus.
Edit: egg yolk is very satisfying
The mulch pile is no more.
To celebrate, I took my shovel to the end of the driveway and pumped it above my head and yelled like a Tusken sand person at my neighbors.

Trying to think of something special to do for Niece Elizabeth for Memorial Day weekend. She was going to be getting married that weekend but idiot Max broke it off. Definitely his loss! She will be ok and, eventually, find someone worthy of her but that is easy for me to say. She is getting there.
She may be going somewhere with friends (fingers crossed) but am thinking about some kind of surprise when I know where they are going and what they are doing.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
I don't know about her friends but Niece Elizabeth is very cautious about Covid. She is working with the Minnesota Dept of Health but the CDC is her actual employer. She should have her 2nd shot already in her arm - her first was about a week before my first one. She is currently working on a project for mobile vaccination clinics to go out to underserved neighborhoods to get people vaccinated. The Metro Transit Authority donated 6 buses to be turned into these clinics.
She's not likely to fall for a Candygram...

My initial thought was to say nothing like an in-person visit particularly since tax time would also be mostly over, but that may get complicated. So, are you looking for something to send? Or alongs Clemmons comment an activity?
If she is doing something with friends, I was thinking about a spa day or renting kayaks or a nice meal/wine for them but that would depend on where they go/what they do. If she isn't doing something with friends, her Aunt Anne & I will look at either a trip up there or having Nephew Mike bring her down here for the weekend.
I guess the first step will be determining which friends and if they are really doing something that weekend.
