Russell Stover took over Whitman's in 1993. Russell Stover is much better than Whitman's.
And, not naming names, but he who does not eat sugar or chocolate should not comment on chocolate topics. Just sayin!

Purging about 30 years of worthless paperwork, which we have been stacking away needlessly. Incidentally, a company called ShredIt, shreds and recycles old documents at a flat rate of $75 for anywhere between 1 an 12 bankers boxes of documents. Any boxes over 12 gets charged extra. We will probably take the over.
Yes. She quit of her own accord. I suspect my boss feels an equal balance of relief and anxiety. She was a very good person who was not very good at the job. My boss had been bending over backwards to make it work.
My experience of ten years managing people tells me something something square pegs and round holes never works. But it doesn't mean I don't applaud the effort.
I don’t want to get political but you want to know what’s wrong with the world? An entire generation has no idea what it is like to poop without a phone.
They’re too coddled.
They might have less churn if they weren't so ageist in their hiring practices. Yeah, I said it. When I was actively looking for part time work, I couldn't get an interview with a single non-profit and it was not for lack of trying. I applied for one job once, never got interviewed, saw that they had reposted the job, tried again, still no interview. The only thing I could figure out as to why they didn't even interview me was my age.
Spring has sprung...
Good question - I never tried for anything global or national. The one that didn't interview me twice was local, I think, although it could have been state level. I tried to explain in my cover letter why I would want the position given that I was overqualified and I also explained that I did not need benefits. It was the last time I applied for a non-profit job.
Hit 80 today and should hover around there for the next couple of weeks.
Not really, I'm assuming they didn't interview me for a job because of my age. I wrote a cover letter because, even if they aren't planning on reading them, not having one is probably a red flag. If they missed the bit about me not needing benefits, that merely reinforces my opinion.
I definitely read the cover letters when hiring. Can this person communicate effectively? Do they state real ideas or just a bunch of jargon? Are there mistakes in spelling or subject/object agreement? Do they use apostrophes and other detailed punctuation correctly? Do they have an unusual or unique tie to our location or clients? Do they sound like someone that I would like to work with for several years?
This is exactly my thinking as well. Does the cover letter address the job description? Does it give me a sense of the applicant beyond simply their experience and qualifications? Did they care enough to at least give it a cursory glance for proper English?
Also, it's an opportunity to show your personality a little bit. I'm not saying you should tell jokes and discuss your latest health issues, but you can mention your vegetable garden, passion for crosswords, or deep disdain for all things powder blue.
I already have a dry smoker's cough. I'm not smoking by the way. Just got hit on by my first hooker. You know what's worse than getting hit on by a hooker? Not getting hit on by a hooker. You know you're an ugly kid if the scary guy in the white van is suddenly out of candy.
Little legal tip: while prostitution is legal in much of Nevada, it is NOT legal in Clark County where Vegas is located.
Not that you would while in Vegas of course. Just a good fact to know.
My students and I just finished reading The Princess Bride and, as is proper, we are now watching the movie together.
Man, that one never gets old. It makes me misty every time. I think it's truly an American masterpiece, beyond just film. It's a work of art.
Is this apropos of something?
I had to memorize a classic poem in 7th grade and chose this one because it was fairly short. It is one of the half dozen or so poetry stanzas I can still recite, so I am always pleased when it comes up.
Though I never could figure out how somebody who couldn't spell tiger and chose to rhyme 'eye' with 'symmetry' could be considered a genius!

Holy Cow.
What is chat GPT?
Here is one link explaining chatGPT: Linky linky. What do you thinky?

I am going to use Chat GPT to write the “Sunshine Report” I will be giving next week. With full disclosure, of course.

I felt my child kicking last night. That's quite a trip.
First: Congratulations.
Second: It's a different world you will be entering. The sense of joy/accomplishment/relief you get when the two year finally eats their vegetables after a prolonged negotiation hard to explain. Mind you they will eat that stuff for months without issue until one day they release there is the option to say no.
Ugh. We had middle school football practice in the mornings before school. In August and September that is still disgusting hot. No one showered in the open floor showers. We all just lathered ourselves in cheap cologne and deodorant and went to school. It was disgusting.

Lamb is the most misunderestimated meat in our great land
Something I have learned about myself through the years. I am really, really, really not an elitist. (Cross thread reference, you know what I mean.)
A nonpareil non-elitist, really.
I've been perfecting my lamb recipes for the last few years. I like it more and more. I'd have it weekly if it was readily available and affordable.
Meat list;
Turkey (clear 1)
Perfect toro
Fresh Lobster and butter
The best of the pig
Medium rare Lamb shank
Perfect salmon sushi
Venison blackstrap
Perfect Scallops
The rest of the pig
Best cuts of beef
Little birds
Domestic birds
Other beef
Chicken
Catfish and Eel
Costco and Sam's have it year round. Publix, Kroger, Lowes Food and Food Lion are hit and miss for ground lamb (for shepherd's pie or burgers). With Easter around the corner they should be carrying chops, racks and a few legs. That also means it will be on sale shortly after Easter. Given the increased cost of chicken the price of lamb is not too much more. Inflation didn't hit it as much as the other meats.

I have been thinking about the elitist versus non-elitist tag. I'm definitely a meat elitist. I do respect Budwom though. The rest of you are too turkey inclusive. It is a blot on your meat eating credentials.
And zone defense is defeatist. It should only be employed as a defensive change-up or if you are up 30 and are trying not to embarrass the other team.
