LTE is organic. It cannot be rushed or slowed. Zenyatta Mondatta.
De do do do, De da da da...
...stuck in Lodi again.
I went down to Durham this past weekend to go to my high school reunion and take in the Duke-Army game. Hurricane Matthew had other ideas. With the flash flood warnings and low lying areas between my parents house and Wally Wade - I didn't venture out. Then the power went out where the reunion was supposed to be held and that got cancelled. Then the power went out at my parents' house.
At least there was an informal gathering on Friday night so I saw some high school friends. And I saw some Duke friends for Sunday brunch before I flew back home.
And you saw your parents?
-blinks-
And yes, I saw my parents. It's always nice to see my parents. But I saw them in May and June and August, so, not that I didn't enjoy visiting, but c'mon - due to Ronnie's illness, I'd missed my last 2 reunions. I was planning to catch up with at least a couple of people I hadn't seen in 15 years!
My parents came to visit last weekend. As I don't have kids, visits are fairly widely spaced(5-7 years) so this was a very infrequent event. I go to see them 2-3 times a year at their place.
Somebody actually speculated that the presidential race thing might overtake us here.
Never!!!
They speculated that IN the presidential race thread.
Cheaters.
But the bottom line - as has been pointed out upthread - they don't have enough time.
And I wish they had less time than they do. Can't wait for it to be over - but I think I dread the outcome just as much.
Those time calculations assume average posting volumes over said time period. There is zero force keeping those posting rates at current levels other than the 1 minute betweens posts by an individual.
So, while unlikely, it isn't impossible. Statistics are informative, not determinant.
This thread is still 4,125 posts ahead. The election is in 26 days.
And you gotta admit -- there's a bunch to discuss over on that thread. I'm glad to see that folks are taking the election seriously.
Even if that thread passes this one, the other one has a limited time duration. This is the LTE.
Rather than worry about either thread, I try to enjoy both.
No matter how you slice it, keeping this thread in front feels... right
