I'm here for you, bro!
How tall is LL? Will she follow in your footsteps?

I'm 5' 9 3/4" and as a HS frosh, I could almost get the entire length of my fingers over the rim with a running vertical (as opposed to a standing vertical) without the aid of any artificial altitude enhancement devices or equipment. The older I get, the faster/quicker/smarter/(whatever) I was:o.
I could touch the bottom of the net in high school. I could also do a Russian, it's a cheerleader thing. Dunk? Ha! I was 5' 3 1/2" as a senior in high school. I manage to squeeze out almost another half inch by the time I finished college. I too, however, dream of dunking.
My athletic claim to fame was running. I was quartermiler. My best time was 58 seconds.
I could dunk back in the day...
I ran the quarter mile too...
Apparently, I can also kill a thread!
I have my screenshots safely tucked away...
I saved 73...oh perhaps I should have saved some with the different levels. Oh well...
There is validity to that line of thought...
Yeah, I don't make it easy sometimes.
Oh, FWIW we have hit page 300...
I'm not good at milestones...
No one is guarding Hill.
I could have mentioned elsewhere, but why not here? Very nice AV Lavabe.
He dribbles...
He shoots...
Too many postwhores spoils the thread...
That was unintentional, I was honestly trying for 5997 or 5998:o:eek:.
I was trying to provide the assist for 6000...it doesn't appear to have worked out.
Well, we have 990+ posts to get our act together.
We need more practice time...if you don't perform in practice how can you expect to win the game?
It is a Saturday also. Some of us can get it started early...
It took me a while to realize I had purchased monthly access to goduke.com, so I did listen to part of the game. No NASCAR tomorrow means I have a lot more free time for other stuff. :(
Hmm, just wondering here after watching the FB game tonight. If I tried the same post repeatedly, I wonder if I would eventually score... Nah, that wouldn't work:rolleyes:(jk).
I have just turned the heel on my first handknit sock. I don't think it will be microwavable though.
I bet we can get to 7000 by 12/20, let's go for 7500.
Good luck today. I'll be out of the loop for most of the day while travelling, cheering in CIS, doing some yard work and then organizing for a very busy short week of work before the Thanksgiving holiday. Just wanted to get close enough to Lavabe to make him feel like a gazelle before he raced off into the grasslands...
Ahhh, devildeac. Don't be modest. ;)
The kids love the green and red frosted holiday season varities at Dunkin' Donuts. Me? Not so much.
It is however time to break out the Holiday Spiced Tea. I like Taylor's of Harrogate and oh darn, now I forget the brand, Dooley & Son's? I'll check and get back to everybody. It will be another post. That's not a bad thing.
One of my knitting friends thought I might enjoy the 'Completely Pointless and Arbitrary' group on Ravelry (the knitters website). I went to it. They have a thread called 'The Very Longest Thread'. I'm afraid those knitters have us beat, by a lot. Not that we want to compare ourselves to them, there are a lot more knitters than OTB regulars but, does anybody want to know how many posts are in that thread?
Ours has a better title.
Dang, hitting Jimmy Spanarkel status kinda slowed me down.

Hey Miles,
Sounds like you're still planning an Eastward move -- does that mean your co. accepted your demand/request to WFHFA? (work from home from afar)
The very nice spiced holiday tea is Harney & Sons. I'm having a cup right now. Ahhhh.
We've got our work cut out for us. We may need to draft some others.
Okay we may need to find a new metric. How long have they been posting? Maybe we could catch up to them on a posts per year basis?
Another thing to consider would be demographics. Have us guys here been too misogynistic? And well, many of us aren't exactly the key texting demographic either(under 25 maybe). Do we need to shift our base?
As or 5:30pm today - 234,810 posts.
There are 150,000+ members of Ravelry. There are 2625 members of the Completely Pointless and Arbitrary Group.
We might have them beat in posts per member.
I've never posted in that thread.
The button for this group is a picture of David Beckham and Posh Spice. The moderator said that's what she got when she google 'Completely Pointless and Arbitrary'. I do find that amusing.
Goin' for 700 tonight. Time to PW...
Final PW'age for the summit and...
I don't think we have reached 50 today yet:(.
Well, perhaps we should do a count to see how far below we are?
That is short of our daily goal. What should we do about it?
Okay, I'll have to check out the poll. Even though I go by the Cat Man these days, I have had and like dogs also. Just given the constraints of my current residence, the cats work out better.
So, what do you think that pattern was in the other thread?
Ahhh, who knew beer and Atlanta went together so well.
Yeah, but Mike G never struck me as a beer drinker...
I'm getting dizzy hopping from thread to thread:o.
You lost me a few posts ago.
Me too and from site to site. But we have surpassed our daily quota.
I'm afraid to visit the EK forum again to check up on the Duke-vt and Duke-Montana threads. I'll get hopelessly lost/behind over here:o:eek:.
Yeah, so many goals to shoot for.
We lost and we won...that's all I needed for today.
Sure, where are we going? To Atlanta for some beer? I'll have to stick to the local Boston Beer Company for now.
Dang, Adam Vinitiari (sp?) is a FG-kicking stud. I wonder how many last-second game winner's he's hit (or missed) in his career.
I love Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor. A great combination of evil and amusing.
Excellent point Lavabe. Boston had to export to Atlanta for it to achieve this level of success.
PS Piano wire won't do it. You'll need a Silver Bullet.
Hey DA, so far that's the way it's looking. Boss was bummed, but we're gonna try and work things out. I will most likely give up my position as ScrumMaster and refocus on OEM Integration. Excited to have more focus, but kinda sad I won't be on the Development Team anymore. :(
And probably an urge to eat a Snickers.

I read that Bil Keane, the guy who created the Family Circus cartoon, had a standard answer whenever he was asked why he spelled his name with one 'L'. He said, "Once when I was a little kid, my parents caught me drawing on the walls with crayons and beat the "L" out of me!"
Wow, I missed a posting orgy over the weekend... Congrats on shattering several sound barriers...
Wilson, we need a head elf ruling on Steven Colbert's Christmas. I was laughing at parts of it, especially the duet with Jon Stewart. Mrs Turk was perplexed: "Wait, if this is supposed to be funny, how come I'm not laughing?" Also, it violates the pre-turkey Christmas rule...
Me neither - but I do like cartoons and just remember tripping over the Bil Keane anecdote somewhere. The thing I hate the most is how they keep spitting out comics even after the original artists have shuffled off this mortal coil.
As much as I miss Foxtrot, Calvin, Bloom County, and Boondocks, I admire the artists for deciding to stop when they thought it was time to stop.
The anecdote was cute. Much cuter than any of his comics. I'm also not cool with continuing the artist's work after they've moved onto greener pastures. In the case of Family Circle, I don't see any obvious decline in quality.
Billy takes this path to school. I dunno did it. Warm, fuzzy family moment. Step. Repeat. :p
Haven't seen it, don't know if I will. Firstly, and most importantly, you're right...it violates the pre-turkey rule.
Secondly, though: I like Stephen Colbert, and I like Christmas. But I dunno how I really feel about a Stephen Colbert Christmas. Kind of like how I like chocolate, and I like mustard, but I dunno how I feel about chocolate + mustard (well, actually, I do know how I feel about that...).
That's a pretty good analogy, I think Mrs. Turk is in the same camp as you. I'll run it by a few more people and see how it plays.
I did not watch the entire show - I stumbled into it whilst surfing. Chunks of it that I saw had the aforementioned Stewart with a Christmas / Hannukah duet, plus Elvis Costello, Toby Keith, Willie Nelson, and Fiest. Looked like he was trying to do a send-up of the Bing Crosby / Osmond Family style Christmas specials.
All the more reason to appreciate the Muppet holiday shows... :D
I am not familiar with her music either, but I believe she is one of those alt-country-roots singer-songwriter types that get critical buzz and a cult following but never go mainstream... oops, wiki says it's "Feist"... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feist_(singer)
She's the girl that sings the catchy song on Apple's new iPod commercials. You can listen for free here.
Watched exactly 5 minutes of the Colbert Christmas special, the part with Jon Stewart, didn't laugh. I would have watched Elvis Costello if I'd stumbled across it at the right time. Can't recommend this Christmas special although I did get a 'folks dropping by Bing's' vibe from it. It wasn't a good enough parody.
Now the Andy Williams Last Gasp Christmas Special should be great this year.
Yes, that's a joke.
It is still early, but we have a ways to go to get to our daily quota.
I guess I'll have to check my math again...
Umm, the 'Canes are a Raleigh team not a Charlotte team. He can jinx the Charlotte teams by living there if he likes. We have enough problems with the bipolar 'Canes that we don't need his "help." However, if he'd like to move to chappaheeya, I'd probably help him with the down payment on his new abode:D.
I'm guessing that Ivory didn't make it on the list of potential names...
That name would never do. It's actually almost clever, but alas, it's not singular, as WNBA nicknames are required to be. It would have to be the Philly Peal or the Philly Toll or something. Perhaps they could give a nod to the famed Philadelphia sports fans and call it the Unruliness.
They could go with Philadelphia Freedom, but then they'd have Elton John wanting to design the uniforms, or else they'd have to pay him to go away. Either way, that might be entertaining...
